Holy fuck. What can we expect from 600mm2 monsters with HBM2? This release has been pretty disappointing for those that had highrange GPUs from last generation, but huge chips could be insane.

The highend chips are going to be either nonexistant (because of manufacturing problems) or fucking insane (because holy shit 28 to 14/16nm is two nodes).
Literally 4x the hardware they can pack into the same space.
yes
1080 ti/next titan/vega will be silly
get a 480 if you need something right now and wait, then sell it for ~150 for a more mature 14/16 nm card in a year
the GP102 is estimated to be around the 460mm2 ~ 480mm2 range and will be somewhat like the GP100 sans the FP64 cores + ROPs.

Given how atrocious yields are on GP104, it's going to be a long time before we see the big boy.
980Ti and Fury X were tempting, but no way was I going to pay that much for 28nm. I get wanting to get a 1070 or a RX480 if you're desperate for an upgrade, but I don't understand those that bought 1080s. Way too expensive for what they deliver.
How big are the Tesla Pascal chips anyway?

And 8x the price
