I've had a problem for a while now on Windows 7. After a while, programs will just stop working. Icon will become generic, and opening it will result in "blank has stopped working". This happens on new installations, old installations, etc.
This problem has occoured on old drives, brand new drives, months into an installation or days after one. Can't seem to find anything about it.

For home use, Windows is just a gaming platform now. In fact it's best to keep Windows 10 on a separate PC, since we can't trust that it doesn't have an internal Ext3/4 driver that scans your other drives.

It takes a backup of the old install and doesn't touch your private files at all. You can roll back within 30 days before that backup is clean off.
Rollbacks are hardly foolproof and they're been reports of them being stuck forever, etc. Hell, that one lawsuit was a about failed rollback.
Because sometimes it's easier to start over than waste days upon days trying to troubleshoot shit that doesn't have adequate documentation or worse documentation written by someone in such a way that only they would understand because of their fucked up psychology.
