While we're on this subject, is there utility in Ubuntu like Event Viewer in Windows? My install pops up an error every time I boot it but it doesn't give any info on what is causing the error or where to start troubleshooting.

I switched from Arch
should I go back?
>>
>>55393963
I never had Arch crash on me. Ubuntu used to give me errors. A big advantage is that I'm on Intel. Are you using Nvidia or Amd?
>>
>>55394195
Unity is not bad, but it has some issues that drives me crazy. There is still a problem with icons appearing after you install something, let's say Unity Tweak Tool. The icon will not appear. You have to either restart Unity or restart the syste. It doesn't happen all the time, but there are times when I hate that. If you try to run the program from a command in Unity, Unity will remember that command instead of the default program name. I installed Firefox once, the icon didn't show up, ran it from a command, browsed a bit then I pinned it on the left bar. Well, that became the default icon for Firefox with a permanent title from the site I was browsing when I pinned Firwfox, had to remove that from ~/.local. This issue is years old, still not fixed, but I saw a bug report and they say it was fixed!

This is a stupid argument itself
>>
>>55400951
Holy fuck, is that kubuntu by default?

If so, thats a shameful Win10 rip-off
>>
>>55392346
From the looks of that desktop that computer has been treated like shit
>>
>>55402567
I tried i3. Not for me. I paid for my mouse and I like to use it when it is needed. I understand that some people like WMs, but that is really a personal preference and it is hard to get used to it. Xfce is the best for me, it's lightweight and looks really good themed.
>>
>>55390227
I'm a dumb weeb fag, and it works pretty good for me.

Huh. No, it's not by default, it's how I usually configure Plasma. I didn't realize it looked so much like Windows 10 though.

That's because they're all manchildren with nothing else to do but tweak colors and watch Hawaiian cartoons.

It isn't hard to rice. Anyone can do it. It's just that nobody gives enough of a fuck to because the level of autism in those threads was unbearable.

>>55399037
That's because they waste a week finding the best icons and shit instead of just enjoying their pc as is.

whats the easiest, most stable fucking distro to use? i want to install linux on my laptop for a collection of memes, and just generally a new experience but i'm a fucking baby and don't want anything too hard.

Ubuntu mate is really easy to get used to since its not too different from windows.

Alternatively, lubuntu is a little lighter than Ubuntu mate. Ubuntu mate should be fine though, runs great on my moms old Centrino laptop
Don't fall for the mint meme, it lags behind Ubuntu in performance and features an outdated kernel.

I tried Linux (Mint) a while ago. And I managed to break the gui within 5 minutes by installing updates.

Thank doge it was easy to fix by selecting a different and then the old gui again. Or whatever it's called.
