Why are there no good browsers? Chrome's a botnet, but
Images are sometimes not shown due to bandwidth/network limitations. Refreshing the page usually helps.

Why are there no good browsers?

Chrome's a botnet, but Firefox is shit. Webkit's fast as fuck, and nothing else seems to be able to compare, but Chromium is missing features (and may still be botnet), and Vivaldi's a joke.

The open source ones like Midori or Epiphany don't have plugins, so they're also useless.

What gives?

The only good browser is firefox with a couple of extensions.

>>

It's neither slow nor buggy for me.
Maybe you should try a clean install of 64-bit Stable.
https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/

Also don't shit it up with plugins and extensions.
>>
>>55390135
Pale Moon is good, but it's not great.
Chrome is great, but it's a botnet.

The better question is, why are there no great browsers?
>>
QupZilla is quite nice: http://qupzilla.com/
Not a ton of options but it has the essentials and adblocking built in.
>>
>>55390287
It's really slow. I've given it a shot, but earlier today it didn't want to work with some video or something, so I pulled up Chrome and realized that it renders the page almost a full 5 seconds faster. It's absurd.
>>
Edge and safari are the best, except their customizability/extension support is too limited.

So... suck it up. Embrace the botnet. Download Chrome.
>>
>>55390359
Chrome pre-loads on their servers or some shit its called pre-fetching and if you disable it you are left roughly about the same speed as friefoxokxok
>>
>>55390359
Chrome prefetches everything that's why. It makes it appear faster but pisses off every single website in the world.

>Chrome's a botnet
It's only a botnet if you're an autistic lincucks user.
>Firefox is shit
It's only shit if you're mentally retarded and don't know how to configure it.

Both Firefox and Chrome are God-tier, only thing that is shit is you and your PC.
>>
>>55390359
That's because of prefetching. Turning it on wastes bandwidth and CPU. You can enable a similar feature for FF, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Chrome is actually pretty slow. It's inefficient as hell, particularly when you have a lot of tabs open.

I've settled for waterfox as my main browser

it's based on the current firefox code and therefore works out-of-the-box with everything, yet it's a fork that has it's own thing going on by fixing all the faults mozilla caused by choice (mainly the pocket, reader & plugins features).

it feels like a good balance between being an autistic edgelord that cares about "muh freedom" and an norp that cares about "muh casual surfing"
>>
>>55392615
Why not just stick with Firefox and just toggle shit in about:config?
Talk about being an edgelord.
>>
>>55390135
I'm looking forward to the emacs graphical browser coming to emacs 25. It would give me motivation to quit Firefox for good.

> chrome works k, need to restart every 3-4 hours due to memory hogs, performance drops
> firefox works k until there's javascript, 2 pages - twitter and youtube freeze the whole browser for good 10-15secs, scrolling impossible
Even mozilla acknowledges that FF isn't the most performant thing. Good with 1 tab and best for simple websites (even performance wise) but totaly unoptimized to current web.

>Firefox is shit

Stopped reading right there, even in spite of your truism about Chrome preceding it.

If you can't make Firefox into what you want it to be - which is why it is the way it is, it's a framework meant to be expanded upon and customized to whatever degrees you wish - then you really should just shut the fuck up and die in a fire more than likely. We don't need stupid fucking people like you in our world, you're causing too many problems for those of us that aren't stupid fucking people.

Serious question: how concerned should I be about Chrome's "botnet"? I find it faster for stuff like youtube and twitch, and since I'm stuck using Facebook to keep in touch with my normie friends, I'm being tracked anyway.

I'll switch to either SeaMonkey or Palemoon. Both seem to support most of the addons I'm using.
There's also IceCat, but I don't think the FSF will be able to keep up with all the shit Mozilla is adding.
All in all, there'll be enough choice when the time will come.

Inox + IceCat is my best combination to this day. Inox for Youtube and casual browsing, hardened IceCat for privacy. Both started with firejail.

Opera was the best browser until it died in 2013. Still is if you're okay with using a browser that hasn't been updated in three years.
>>
>>55394558
Hell, Google is actively trying to influence the election for Shillery. All Mozilla has done was fire Eich and spend $25000 rewriting "problematic" code

When Mozilla abandons XULRunner, what will happen to extensions like pentadactyl, greasemonkey and vimperator? I heard the devs of some addons say they can't fully be ported to the new addon api.

Firefox is shit at being a "framework" for anything.

Generally, I would imagine "frameworks" wouldn't be slow and buggy.

Also, way to say a whole bunch that doesn't mean anything. Your post was meaningless.

Currently using Vivaldi. Brave has some potential but I've only used it a little.
