Hey /g/ how did I do on my first gaming build?
http://pcpartpicker.com/list/kpZTHN
I went to /v/ first but they must be retarded because they linked me here.
>>
Wait for the rx 460 and 470 or even the gtx 1050 instead of getting a gtx 950. The 950 is old and you'll get much better price/performance with newer cards.

Did you just choose the cheapest everything possible?

delid the cpu. google it
>>
>>55388450
Wait until you're 90 then shoot yourself because you spent 70 years waiting for graphics cards
>>
>>55388455
Not even close could have heard out even more, but 800 dollars is a lot of money considering I'm not rich. I can't just go throwing around 1500 dollars like I have it. At least the build allows me to upgrade in the future from what I can see.
>>

I have been saving to long to waitfag
>>
>>55388432
hijacking your thread, OP.

I would order it, but I can't find the RAM on ASRock's compatibility list. Also almost zero reviews on the Gigabyte xtreme.

>>
>>55388520
>>55388492
OK but the 950 is an exceptionally bad buy right now with the rx 460 literally right around the corner. The 950 is almost two years old.
>>
>spending more on your keyboard than your power supply
http://pcpartpicker.com/list/7MGTHN
Twice as much performance for 30 bucks more. I'm still not sure how you went ultimate poorboi and still got $800, even without an OS.
Replace the GPU with a 470 if you're a waitfag.
>>
>>55388497
That H110 motherboard will not allow you to upgrade to a better graphics card in the future because it doesn't have enough PCI express lanes. At least get an H170.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGA_1151#Skylake_chipsets
>>
>>55388981
The fuck are you talking about? It will work fine with any GPU in the foreseeable future. Of course you can't SLI/CF but SLI/CF is garbage anyways
>>
>>55388432
>at 690$ you get i74720HQ+GTX950m+8GB RAM+1TB HDD -laptop at 4.4lbs... but you have to cuck.
Somebody slap this guy!
>>
>>55388981
The CPU has 16 lanes of PCI-e v3.0. What the mobo has does not really matter.
>>55388432
Why do you buy 2 RAM stick if you only have 2 slots? The RAM bandwidth does not really matter for gaming only latency does.
>>
Are you poor?
>>
>>55389048
H110 has only 6x PCI-e 2.0 lanes. That's going to be a bottle neck even on a mid range card.
>>
>>55389058
>GTX950m
These cards have either DDR5 or DDR3. If it's this cheap then I guess it's the later.

On a scale of 10 to 10 how retarded are you?
>>
>>55389144
That's what the mobo has for small peripherial. The GPU is connected to the CPU directly via its 16 v3 lanes
>>
>>55388432
Drop the cpu cooler, you dont need it.
Get a cheaper keyboard.
Drop the speakers, get cheap headset instead.
Drop the HDD, get a bigger SSD for the money.
>>
why a 144Hz monitor is your GPU can barely run 60 fps?
>>
>>55389250
Depends on what games he wants to play, it will run CSGO on low >60fps

>Drop the cpu cooler, you dont need it.

This.
You are buying a boxed CPU (it comes with a cooler). Either drop the cooler or buy a tray CPU. You can't overclock this CPU anyway. I don't know about the HDD though, if you need more storage it's ok.
>>
>>55388432
Scrap the monitor and get some super cheap second hand one from some scrapyard or whatever and get a better gpu.
>>
why spend that much money on a keyboard and why drop 25 bucks on a custom cooler for a low-end CPU? the lower end CPU's have a stock cooler included (yes its shit but good enough for budget builds). 144hz monitor? CS?

and yes waiting sucks but you're right in the middle of new cards being introduced. the newer entry level cards will be superior to a 950 which is 2+ years old now.
>>
How screwed will I be if I buy skylake now?
You think Intel will break and go octacore for masses after amd zen?
Will it have any kind of impact on gaming?
Will it be like dualcores vs singlecores massacre in gaming?
>>
>>55389355
Not that I actually know what I'm talking about. But Kaby Lake looks mediocre. If you have to wait it would probably be better to wait a year longer and get Cannonlake.
>>
>>55388432
Never buy under powered graphics card. If you can't afford a good one, wait our you will be miserable.
>>
>>55389447
Might as well wait for Icelake

>>55389469
Even better would be to wait until quantum processors gets consumer friendly.

Are you retarded? It's not 2000's anymore, everything important like memory controller and PCI-e controller is built-in the CPU. You can't fuck up a build with a shitty motherboard anymore, nothing too important is on the motherboard anymore.
>>
>>55389676
Hes just a retard repeating memes he heard from nvidia shills and tomsshillware.

If you can afford to up the ram to 16G go ahead but if not 8G should be fine for now...that cpu isnt the greatest but should be ok...I am a budget gamer also but I run amd for my chipset, and intel for gpu rofl I am running a phenom 2 x6 and its doing more than fantastic still. If budget is your main concern that what you got should be fine...install the OS on the SSD and games on the HDD yea the games wont load super instant but you have more space for them...space is important when all your games are in one place....koodos

>>

You mean your RIG?
>>
Instead of making a new thread, I'll use this one.

Gaming PC is out of date (think I'm still running a 550 Ti GTX). A couple months ago I asked in a similar thread on /v/ about building a new rig, since I haven't built a PC from scratch in about 8 or 9 years, and I got this in response.

http://pcpartpicker.com/list/mZPBgs

I was wondering if this was still a decent way to go, and which graphics card should I go with? For example, go with a 980ti and save for the 1080, or just wait out the build and get the 1080 when I can afford it?
>>
>>55389935
what is your full specs?

>>55389941

Here is the quick speccy. If I were to upgrade this PC, I'd probably have to change out all of the fans, and possibly the power supply (don't remember off hand what it is). The case also gets rather dusty, which is why the new case is in the build.
>>
>>55390002
all you need is a new gpu, look into a rx 480 or wait for the non reference rx 480 later this month
>>
>>55390024

The CPU will hold up? Sorry for the basic questions, been out of the game so long I'm having to reeducate myself from almost scratch.
>>
>>55388432
i'd get rid of the ssd, get a cheaper keyboard and change gpu to rx 480
>>
>>55390040
the cpu is still good, cpu performance hasn't moved much since sandy bridge so you can keep that cpu and maybe just hope that zen is good so you can upgrade to that later this year
>>
>>55389909
http://www.corsair.com/~/media/corsair/download-files/manuals/dram/ddr4-compatibility.pdf
this is corsair's compatibility list
your single stick RAM (CMK16GX4M1B3000C15) is not there at all, but the 2 sticks version (CMK32GX4M2B3000C15) is there for asrock z170 mobos, so I guess you're good to go, faggot
>>
>>55388432
how did you made this shitty hardware pile up to 800 bucks
>>
>>55390067
>https://www.inet.se/kundvagn/visa/9513756/
That's the x99 version and not z170. Does that matter at all?
>>
>>55388432
Get rid of the shitty GAYMAR keyboard and get some better speakers. Other than that looks ok for an entry level build.
>>
>>55390146
Now I've looked again and that list only mentions the z170 oc formula. I thought it was all asrock z170 mobos. So I don't know now.
http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z170%20OC%20Formula/?cat=Memory
this list from mobo's manufacturer website has CMD16GX4M4B3000C15 which is 4 x 4GB sticks set but with the same frequency and latency but not CMK model and there is CMK16GX4M4B3300C16 which is 4 x 4GB too but with higher frequency and latency.
Anyway, why are you buying a single stick of RAM for a CPU which has dual channel RAM support and a mobo with 4 RAM slots?
>>
>>55390348
I seriously stretched my budget, and want to get 64GB in the future. So one @16 seems like it's easy to upgrade.

But I just ordered it. So yolo, I guess
;_;
>>
If you're trying to budget, do you really need a 70$ keyboard?
>>
>>55388432
>144hz
>gtx 950
mate, get a cheaper monitor, a cheaper keyboard and mouse, and skip the SSD if you're on that much of a poorfag budget, or increase your budget.

You'll be lucky to get 50 fps in modern titles on an i3/950 combo. The monitor in no way will display 144 fps on your system ever.

If you increase your budget to $200 for the gpu, you can get rx 480 in a couple weeks, or even right now you can find a cheap r9 380x that will kick the shit out of a gtx 950.
