Guess who just installed Gentoo?! Can someone help me weigh the pros and cons of KDE vs XFCE? I'm not sure which would best suit my needs.

kde, gnome, and xfce are all ancient and bloated af

People here are retarded. I'm using KDE now after using XFCE for 6 months. KDE is bloated as fuck, but it has some really good bloat. If you want a a truly awesome fully featured DE, go for KDE. Regardless of the bloat, I love it a lot.
On the other hand, XFCE is a very good balance of minimalistic and full featured. It starts with everything you'll NEED. After a bit of configuring, you'll get super comfy with it.
tl;dr XFCE for rice and muh minimalism, KDE for awesome ootb experience
