The x70 cards from Nvidia used to be more than $330. Nvidia cut the price on the 9x0 generation to steal marker share from AMD. And it worked, the 970 is the most popular card on Steam. They could easily do that with their 1060 or 1050ti if the 1060 isn't a direct competitor to the rx 480.

Nvidia clearly waited until after the reviews were out for the rx 480 to announce the 1060, it's a very real possibility that they did that to undercut the 480 in terms of price, and it's another real possibility that they'll cut the price on the 1070/1080 if Vega is competitive enough. I know the "founders edition" bullshit makes people think Nvidia has too much hubris to drop their prices, but AIB partner cards are gradually getting closer to MSRP as cheaper models come out, so Nvidia hasn't totally abandoned competing on price.

that's the assumption, and it has to make sense considering their naming scheme doesn't allow for vega 11 to exist in the '400' line.
vega 11 is too far away so 490 will have to be my placeholder in the meantime while i wait for v11 or possibly the 1080 ti

5 of them are Microsoft first party shovelware
3 of them are Indie garbage nobody gives a fuck about and are all probably vaporware that's never coming out by who the fuck knows studios
1 of them is by squeenix which depending on the engine shows Nvidia ahead in some games and behind in others

There is no gimping, Nvidia just doesn't offer continuous driver enhancements for older cards past their 2 year or so lifespan. The cards just work as well they just don't get the optimizations.
The reason AMD still have 'cards getting faster' is because they're literally still on the same inefficient crap arch that they've renamed 3-4 times.
