Didn't really have time to uninstall shit and don't want to make a fresh install so. What's the point of "upgrade now" if the drivers from windows 7 aren't compatible with 10?

I'm pretty sure that a cable cannot break that way. Your NIC might stop working, but a cable?
Have you tried testing the cable on some other machines?
Are you sure that it isn't cut somewhere in the middle?
