Modern web design as a whole on average is literally worse than previous generations despite having more things available such as higher bandwidth and larger average resolutions.
It's worse at things and isn't a case of "I don't like it". Being forced to scroll more just in order to see the same amount of content is retarded. So much wasted space on the screen.
I purposefully do not use the web much on my phone because I don't like the interfaces. Lately many websites are mimicking phone interfaces on a desktop computer and it's shit.

The whole web programming world is a lake of bulls***. Different browsers, different screens, different javascript engines blah blah. Then we have angularjs and other hipster stuff. I personally think that js should be used only for some effects and non-functional stuff. I remember playing some browser based games when they were popular. It was around 12 - 15 years ago. Some sites had awesome design using minimal js. I think that it was the golden age of the web, after that came "the downfall".
