HDMI is deprecated, DisplayPort is the future.

How much signal deterioration will you get when you convert AV to HDMI? I would assume the signal would be worse at 1080p than AV directly to a CRT display.

Will never happen.

HDMI will last forever, its been a connector on TVs for 10 years already.
