I should get a damaged cheapo motherboard, slap on a 1080 on it and claim it killed it. How much do you think I can get from nvidia? Because if it had an 8 pin connector it would not be compatible with the shitty psu that comes with cheap prebuilts. So prebuilt manufacturers would not be able to offer the card in their budget builds and people with shitty prebuilts would have to upgrade their psu. Since this is amds target market they knew it would hurt sales so they decided to stretch it with the 6 pin connector.
