Take the loose ends of both strings and cross them in an X. Pass the back string forward over the front string and through the bottom half of the X you previously formed. Pull tight.
Form a loop with one of the loose ends Hold the loop at the base with the tip of your pointer finger and thumb. With the remaining loose end, wrap string around the thumb and pointer finger.
Hook pointer finger to catch the second loop you just made, and pull through knot. Pull to appropriate tightness.

I don't know if these things correlate, but I have Asperger's and I don't know how to tie my shoes. I have tried following dozens if not hundreds of different instructions over the years, from my parents, friends, the internet and books. Yet I am almost 20 and I still can't tie my fucking shoes. It's called muscle memory. Just go to fieggen.com, look up the Ian Knot, and just try it. Keep trying it until you get it. Then repeat for 30 minutes or an hour or whatever it takes until you can do it without thinking about it.
Tying shoes is not something you learn by just looking it up and trying it once or twice (like you can with any Linux distro that has decent documentation). You have to drill that shit into your brain as hard as you can by doing it over and over.
