once it's done, i'll just put on the caps which came stock with my pok3r.

i have an order of 1976 ergodox caps coming but
1) i might hate the profile

3) the gradient being slightly off might bother me to the point of not being able to use it

but no other set has caught my attention for the time being.

Has anyone used one of these? I'm debating between this and the Spacesaver II.

In particular, I want to know how these trackpoint buttons feel. They LOOK like total shit, and the lack of a middle click might cause me to go with the bigger SSII anyway.
>>
>>55352526

maxi switch/lexmark m13

space saver only comes in membrane buckling spring for mechanical, with no trackpoint. need a kishsaver for better switches ($$$$$$$)

the II is still a rubber dome, nothing special at all

Been typing on membranes my entire life and now looking to pick up a mech. When I stopped by microcenter to try out some keyboards, mx reds felt louder than blues (probably because I was bottoming out a ton).

shitty, inconsistent quality and proprietary switches (that are inconsistent and low quality). two friends of mine have the new chroma black widow and while they're the same switch type, one feels like knockoff blues while the other feels like mushy reds. you'd have to ask your wife for specifics like switch type and leds if you want alternatives. if she wants rgb, the ducky disco seems promising.

Since this board is so stupidly rare me and a friend are designing our own and planning on doing a group buy once we've built a prototype.

The trackpoint alone is at least $60/pop thanks to patent holding Jews.

Planned features:
- 60%, TKL, and Full Size
- $200. - $300 price range
- RGB backlit keys

Style would mimic the TEX Yoda but actually be fucking available. Would anyone be interested? Will post prototype once complete. We've already sourced the JewPoint OEM.

We won't ask for anything except poll style data until a fully working prototype is complete. He just wants to make sure he isn't wasting his time.

Why does /g/ hate num pads
>>
>>55363989
Redundant, waste space between mouse and keyboard, less compact.
Unless you enter a LOT of numbers, you really have no use for it. I forced my switch from numpad to the number row a couple of months ago and couldn't be happier with the decision.
>>
>>55363989
>>55364027
Or you could just get a standalone numpad

Literally what I'll be using it for.
I don't think it's impossible to get used to for any purpose. I'm already using a pretty cramped keyboard, so my body is almost ready.

Yes.

And yes, you need special keycaps for Topre.
>>
>>55364193

Dear god why are you doing this to yourself? I'm loving my 60% layout and don't see the need for 40% memes.

There's no empty space on the home row.

>>55364244

Hey now, it's not that crazy.
Also, you already hold a key to hit a bracket. The jump from 1 to 2 keys isn't as big as 0 to 1.

>why are you doing this to yourself
It's the cheapest ortholinear to build. Still very expensive, though.

Picrelated is my layout I'm throwing together. It gets messy with the Cyrillics, so I removed them.

The whole point of the novatouch is that it's compatible with cherry mx keycaps. Choose whatever PBT caps suit your taste (just make sure they're either doubleshot, or preferably, dye-sublimated).

>>55364370

Thanks, I didn't even know that. I know about keycap printing as I've owned a mech in the past.
>>
>>55364508
Don't. Ortholinears haven't gained much traction for a reason, so it's hard to even call it a meme.
I just want to build my own keyboard and Planck is one of the cheapest and most exciting ways to do it.
>>
>>55364543
>I didn't even know that
The whole point of the novatouch is that it's cherry mx compatible. Literally the only reason to buy it over another Topre (other than price, but higher end Topre comes with stock dye-subbed PBT)
>>
>>55364548
They get posted multiple times in every thread. I'm trying to minimize space on my desk as much as possible. I want a planck now with a trackpoint.
>>
>>55364579
I just wanted to get the NovaTouch as my first new mech because it's easily available, has a decent price and has Topre switches, which I've never had before.. Might get a Pok3r or Noppoo in the future.
>>
>>55364627
>They get posted multiple times in every thread.
Sorry, it's 70% just me because I'm still pretty excited about it and asking questions.

>I want a planck now with a trackpoint.
That's the dream, man.
If it's as easy as some people say, I'll be all over that shit after I finish just the keyboard.

The fact that you consider a novatouch cheap and easily available (or rather, that this is the face for you) and that you got it without knowing that it's cherry mx compatible.
