hey /g/ i'm going to build my first PC
I investigated and kind of understand how CPU and GPU works and can tell if one is better than another, but how the fuck do i know which motherboard is better from which besides price and does it matter if i'm just going to play games?
I read that motherboards doesn't matter that much and most buy the cheapest available but don't know if this completely true.

Generally you will only care about the mobo if you are a heavy overclocker.
Just get the one with the features you want at a price you are comfortable with from a brand that does not look like complete shit like EliteGroup or BioStar.

Usually, the more accents it has on the board the better it is for performance. Bigger heatsinks on the motherboard means better temperatures and more overclocking potential.

By "look like complete shit" I mean the company who makes the mobo does not look like some super ghetto ripoff of a ripoff of a ripoff bottom barrel generic shit that will fail upon looking at it funny.

Just buy a cheap motherboard and an RX 480.
i got a more expensive mobo just for reliability, no frying, no fires, and aesthetics. i chose the msi 970 and it hasnt failed
