I have a detached garage and I'd like to get better wifi out there. The garage is at least 50 feet away from my wireless router so I only get a really weak signal. I was thinking of running a cat5 cable from my modem and setting up another wireless router out there.

Is there any better way to do this? I don't mind having a cable run across the yard but I don't know how long it'll last until the cat chews it up.

Run it through a conduit you dip

Duly noted. Is there anything better than running a cable out there? Because if I do run a cable out there I'll probably end up burying it.

Use a Cat6e or Cat7 cable with Cat6 connectors, these are great.

You could also try a Xiaomi Miwifi 3 as repeater ('cause it's cheap and pretty good - even if I'd not hope for great success this is probably not a problem to finance and you can use the AP also to get 802.11ac in the house).
