GOEDEL, ESCHER, BACH.
Seriously, it is just as good as a fiction/fun read as it is useful for basic CS theory. Really good read.
I have a small collection of books people on /g/ have recommended, along with some I've found on other sites.

Additionally, there is Libgen for almost all your (non-fiction) needs.

Sounds like a poor man's CLRS
>>55334310
It uses CLRS as one of its sources
>>55333384
what the fuck is this
>>55333356
is this a good followup to Introduction to Algorithms (MIT Press)?
small but growing collection

is this a good book for someone with some basic javascript knowledge? i want to learn c++
>>55334807
I liked C++ Primer more as the first book.
>>55334770
Yes absolutely. The author is the designer of C++ an d he knows what he is doing. If you pirate it make sure you got the second edition otherwise your stuff wont compile in some cases.
>>55334845
is C++ Primer suitable to a newfag like myself? I have very basic JS experience like alert('nigga');

>kuck
>>55334898
Honestly I'd first look into C if you don't feel that much confident, and some higher level language to get a grasp of classes.
I found the transition to C++ way easier with these two above.
Get yourself "C Programming: A Modern Approach" & "Pointers on C".

clrs already is for poor men

Best book
Knowledge in this book applies to all languages. Truth is if you are not developing concurrent systems that have to tolerate high load then you are a retard
read it every day before sleep

I think I need to read that book.
What stuff do you need to know before reading it?
>>55333384
What books would you recommend a newfag beginner? My course isn't too helpful, I got SICP and I'm going to read through that. Any other books that are good?
