I am not a gaymer and I don't need to use programs like Adobe Photoshop or AutoCAD on my personal computer. Why use windows?

>AMT is designed into a secondary (service) processor located on the motherboard
>Intel AMT includes hardware-based remote management, security, power management, and remote configuration features that enable independent remote access to AMT-enabled PCs
>Intel AMT uses a hardware-based out-of-band (OOB) communication channel that operates regardless of the presence of a working operating system
>The communication channel is independent of the PC's power state, the presence of a management agent, and the state of many hardware components such as hard disk drives and memory

I understand why masses who don't care for customization or programming would be interested in such a low tier OS, but why on earth people on /g/ would use grandma's OS?
>>
>>55336093
Visual Studio is the industry standard in programming. No one cares about your shitty FizzBuzz programs compiled with gcc.
>>
>>55336105
Is this a /g/ meme? I've developed C and C++ professionally software for years, if you wan't to argue that it's easier to program and install libraries in Visual Studio than it is on any distro, then go ahead, I've been there, done that, and then went for the objectively superior.
>>
>>55336105
And what's funnier is that I defended it just like you, except more fiercely, then I actually tried linux for one month, and discovered what an idiot I was.
The reason visual studio is the industry standard, is because windows is the industry's target platform, and the reason it's the target platform hasn't got anything to do with how great Windows is as a software, but rather how many sheep stick with it, and again, sheep aren't supposed to know better, programmers are.
>>
I don't break laws, therefore I don't have a problem with Windows 10.
>>
I even made my little sister upgrade to GNU/Linux and she is happy for it. It is faster and more convenient. She particularly likes the software store. Besides, I get to look at her browsing history when she needs help with something because dad doesn't know shit about GNU/Linux.
>>
>>55336239
>if you have nothing to hide
>you have nothing to fear
Literally a nazi argument... and people do it unintentionally. Orwellian.
>>
>>55336268

Embrace the botnet dude. If you are anti botnet you have something to hide.
>>
>>55336329
May I go search your house right now? Or do you have something to hide? Is anyone allowed to claim such privacy invasion rights or just governments and software companies?
>>
Because windows is an unredeemable pile of shit. I'm not using linux because it's free, I'm using it because it works better.
>>
>>55336343
Sure, if you give me a free, functional operating system that runs most programs.
>>
>>55336356
I think it's funny that people think mentioning exclusives is an argument for saying the OS is better, it's like having two computers, one with half the ram, but with an exclusive game installed, and people tell you the hardware of that computer is better beause of the exclusive...
>>
>>55336390
First of all, windows is not free, secondly, if that is the price of your privacy, you go ahead and enjoy yourself, although running most programs is a function of how many users use the OS, meaning, it has nothing to do with the OS quality, but rather the size of the market, which becomes circular, you won't go to the objectively superior OS because it has exclusives, and it will get more exclusives because people follow that logic.
>>
>>55336390
And as a programmer, I don't see missing software as a problem, but rather as an opportunity to create useful software.
>>
> install spybot
