your favorite protocol, how you use it
did you know there's 7 layers?
by layer
7. Application layer
6. Presentation layer
5. Session layer
4. Transport layer
3. Network layer
2. Data link layer
1. Physical layer
I'm bringing back Distributed Social Networking Protocol (DSNP)

don't forget the most important layer 8: end user
>your favorite protocol, how you use it
SNMP, works like a charm for IPC (atop unix domain sockets), without needing any of that bloated dbus crap
That's the osi model not TCP IP
>>55330732
TCP and IP don't have 7 layers. Those are protocols that belong in their own layers
And there aren't even 7 layers, there are 5. Get with the times!

Eh, yeah, you could probably ignore the physical layer most of the time. But there is obviously a difference between bluetooth and wifi
>>55330732
TCP/IP is four layers, not seven. The OSI model is based off a much superior protocol that people in ye olden days, stupidly, did not adopt.
Also, there are 10 layers, not seven.
>>55330908
TCP and IP are actually just 2 layers
bump for non gpu thread

i acctually made my own protocol lossly based off HTTP to do network control of remote cameras
instead ofHTTP/1.0\n\r
i useRASPI\n\r

Babby just started reading about net+. That's so cute.
It's a suite of protocols, you horse-tooth jackals.
And nunya best forget layer 0. It's not just marketing hype.

That's how I remember the layers.
