Not sure about the regular Kindle, but for the fire it was just shitty games or apps. About 90 percent were shitty candy crush or clash of clans knock offs. Took all of 15 mins to root, remove the ads and install a launcher that isn't retarded like the Fire OS launcher.
I was skeptical about the tablet meme for the longest time, but it was a solid purchase imo.

The way you unlock bootloader on Motorola phones consists of requesting an unlock code for your specific device on their website, and of course they are not going to give you any unlock code if they see the model is this one. So only way to root left is for someone to find an exploit which is not even guaranteed to ever be found in a reasonable amount of time and could be patched anyway with any system update
