Windows 7 was mediocre, windows 8 even more so. I have to say that for now I am enjoying win10. It's getting better with updates, you can uninstall most of the bloatware and turn off most of the botnet telemtric features. Though forced updates seem annoying at first they do seem to be much better and less problematic than the win8 ones.
That being said, there is room for improvement but it's prolly the best windows since xp.

Then I moved from 8.1 to 10 because my desktop PC is primarily used for gaming and I got a DX12 compatible graphics card.
My laptop on the other hand runs Fedora 24 while my server runs Debian. Using one OS doesn't mean you have to use it for everything on every device you own.
