Every problem anyone has complained about on /g/ I haven't had on my own installs of Windows 10.

>botnet
I disabled it

>poor performance
I optimized it

>can't disable Windows Defender permanently
I disabled Windows Defender permanently

>bunch of bloatware
I removed them all

>the UI makes me physically ill!
Saw my doctor and he confirmed that I don't have autism

>devices don't work
Actually my webcam from 2001 that didn't work on Windows 8.1 now works on Windows 10. Other than that, zero issues

>can't disable updates
I accidentally disabled mine for 10 months using Peerblock, which led me into thinking all the memes about updates interrupting users work was a huge myth.
>>
>>55313911
How much time did it take from you to do all this things?
>>
>>55314033

All of the following included research investment for the first time doing it. I can do everything COMBINED now in less than 10 minutes, which I have done on multiple computers.

Botnet: 60 minutes

Bloatware removal: 30 minutes

Windows Defender: 20 minutes

Poor Performance: 5 minutes of disabling startup programs. Bloatware and Windows defender removal were part of it.

Seeing my doctor: 90 minutes (including the drive there)

Devices working: 0 minutes

Disabling updates: 0 minutes (had to do with bloatware moving)

Botnet: Spybot Anti Beacon and Peerblock. Add Microsoft list to Peerblock and block HTTP.

Bloatware Removal: disablewintracking.exe

Windows Defender: Go to C:\Program Files\ and open Windows Defender properties. Take ownership of the folder and it's children, then remove all the permissions so nothing can run the files inside.

Poor Performance: Many ways to go about this. The easiest is using CCleaner and looking through the Startup stuff. You can manually do it with Task Manager and clicking startup, but that might not be everything.

Disabling Updates: Block Microsoft in Peerblock

Let's face it:
Either you're stuck with no security updates which makes your computer vulnerable, or you allow the possibility that Microsoft silently pushes an update that circumvents any of your hacks, which is something Microsoft has done in the past.
>>
People are of course free to do what they please.

I will bet though, that A LOT of the users who now disables telemetry, will be the very same people that complain in a year or two when they experience crashes or bugs and there are no solutions ready for them.

How do people expect Microsoft or anybody else to provide them with a smooth user experience, to fix bugs or improve code - if people are not willing to provide information about the incidents that are present ??

I have yet to meet a developer with the ability to simply just sense that you might have a issue on your local PC.

I think too that Microsoft collects our emails, Internet connections, searches, and computing behavior tied to our advertisement ID to fix bugs.

Explain how MS would circumvent blocking the botnet, because all their servers are blocked.

Good for you.
So this means one of three things:

>you are a neet that can do whatever the fuck xhe wants

>you have one of the few jobs (academia?) where you can actually use linux

>you are a """"designer""""" or some similar thing, in one of the few shops where they still insinst on using apple

Unfortunately, most other jobs require some amounts of windows And while is working hard to change that, it'll still be a while till using a better systems becomes a thing accepted in the mainstream.
>>
>>55313793
Disabling telemetry isn't optimizing. In fact it does the opposite since you don't send valuable information that Microsoft can use to improve Windows 10.
>>
>>55314950
>he thinks it doesn't

kek, I guess the blocked packets just magically fly out of my computer speakers and Microsoft uses a giant ear in the California desert to listen to them.
>>
>>55315004

You can't use a program within an operating system to stop the operating system from doing whatever it pleases.

Then show me a way Peerblock or the hosts file can be circumvented, that I can reproduce on my machine.

Works fine.

>>55315241
The amount that peerblock has to block has gone down massively since I blocked MS servers in the hosts file.
>>
>>55315260
hosts files is to bypass the DNS and direct domains to other domains or directly to a different IP adress. the hosts file itself can't direct an IP address to a different IP address.
>>
>>55315291
Yes...I know that. But 99.999% of software on the planet uses host names, including Microsoft, because when I blocked the host names a huge amount of the Microsoft connections that would appear in Peerblock disappeared.
>>
>>55313911
Sounds really fun to do that on every new installation of Windows 10.

When I first got Win10, I did about half of the stuff you listed before realizing how it wasn't worth the effort at all. You mind as well use that time/effort to install free software that doesn't fuck you in the ass for the rest of your life.

You need to block at least 1000 times that to be safe

Wow, I guess Ublock Origin and Adblock must've reverse engineered Windows, Linux, and Apple OSes to be able to block ads!

>>55315799
Microsoft doesn't own 90% of the IP addresses on the planet.
>>
>>55315862
That's not necessary. They can tunnel telemetry data to their server through another computer running windows 10.

You can't know what information is transferred. Notice how it says "download" and not "upload". You can opt-out of downloading from other computers but you can't opt-out of uploading.

The problem is that microsoft does this on purpose, if after their huge record of being shitty with their customers you still don't feel there's anything wrong with supporting them go for it.
>>
>>55313911
You can't disable the botnet. How naive are you exactly?
>>
>>55315988
ok but consider microsoft's record, if it were uncommon for them to screw their users it would be much easier to trust them but considering they now do it openly it's even harder.
>>
>>55314325
Wew lad. Microsoft has hundreds and possibly thousands of IPs you wouldn't even know are connected to Microsoft. That's why it's Microsoft and its partners. The only way to de-botnet Windows 10 is by creating a hardware-level exception for every single IP you deem safe, i.e. you block all connections at first and then start to open up the system. The other option is to keep the system permanently offline.
