I use Debian Stable so that doesn't happen to me.
Why are you using unstable software?

fpbp

Been working with linux for years, never once I used it as my main desktop. Only as servers or for development.

with all the distros just one look at the icons or UI or whatever makes you realize that a bored teenager made the GUI.

>>

I couldnt install zsnes earlier.

I did manage to learn how to mess with gdb and c a little bit better, though.

I also won two games in league.

i'll be leaving this thread now.

GTK actually purposely breaks theme support. They've talked about this on public forums.

The reason is because they see users as walking advertisements. They want users to all have the same gtk approved appearance in order to build up irl brand presence.

It's disgusting. Fuck gtk.

If you want a WIndows ripoff interface use KDE
If you want Macfaggotry then use GNOME

Simples

wicd or wpa_supplicant on debian stable ia broken. I don't have the time to figure out which so I just upgraded to testing. Now everything works.
>>
>>55298104
OPs post is about GTK, not Linux.

And btw, yes, linux works great on servers, but on desktops the kernel still isn't any worse than windows.

KDE = Windows ripoff... Sure buddy. You do realize that KDE Plasma 5 was released before your favorite OS (Windows 10)?

Unpopular opinion: Qt4 is the only decent UI toolkit in existence.

Gtk2: Color customization is a nightmare and my ~/.gtkrc-2.0 tends to randomly break or even segfault some programs. My font breaks it.

Gtk3: Color customization is still a nightmare (GNOME devs really don't want you in control of your system), but at least it breaks less often.

Qt5: Menus like to break and appear on the wrong screen, they removed clearlooks in favor of a “flat” design that doesn't let me distinguish between elements at all, DPI scaling is *completely* fucked and also hilariously bad, my font breaks it, can't customize the colors, etc.

Qt4: Everything works like a charm and looks beautiful, color customization was easily done with the interactive `qtconfig` tool.

I cringe and weep every time some fully functional Qt4 tool is “upgraded” to Qt5 and completely breaks as a result.

Choose one. Stable in debianland means "doesn't change", not "doesn't break".
>>
>>55298738
Forgot to mention, Gtk3 removed the beautiful gtk2 default style in favor of some “modern” piece of junk.
>>

That's not Tk
>>
>>55298772
The only single program I know that uses tk is “gitk”, and so far I haven't figured out how to change the theme/style at all.

but hey, at least it works - which is a step up from gtk2 and qt5.

Also, incoming shitstorm.
GTK-4.0 is not GTK4
It's only GTK4 when we announce it as GTK4, even if we have release GTK-4.1, GTK-4.2.
>>
>>55298772
TK is dogshit. It's not even consistent between similar systems on different machines. The widgets outright don't respond to clicks in some settings.
>>

windows took a break from copying kde with 8 and tried to copy gnome.
Windows 7 was a ripoff of kde 4.
