Should I buy a 980Ti now (new) for 399 pounds? (526.85 US Dollar / 477.69 Euro)
>>55285895
Why not get a 1070?
>>55285895
No, you should buy an RX 480 for $199usd
>>55285923
>RX 480
doesn't come close to the 980Ti
>>55285922
yeah seems better, from the benchmarks I've seen, the 1070 (just about) beats the 980Ti, so if it ever comes out at or near the MSRP, it's worth it.
>>55285923
No, he should get 2x 480s for $460 USD
>>55285895
Should you? Think about all the chicken nuggets you could buy instead.
>>55285939
>dual GPU
>ever a good idea
Fuck no
1070 dude.
>>55285923
The 480 is a mid range card, AMD crybaby.
>>55285930
>within ~10% for half the price
>can get it with more ram
>doesnt come close
fuck right off
>>55285965
>>within ~10%

I'm gonna hopefully not start a fucking flame war here but knowing /g/ it's gonna happen anyway.
If you want 980ti performance and you are already willing to spend 525 U.S. Dollars, then just go for 1070 (lower price, higher performanc, will live longer). It really just depends on what you plan to do with it, you don't need the best of the best. That's up to you to decide though. Most cards won't reach MSRP for a while so it's up to you to pay the price of having it now vs later. If you are a richfag there's no point in waiting for the price to drop
>>55285895
>buying old Nvidia cards
Fucking no. Never. Especially when you can get a 1070 for the same fucking price.

I'm no richfag, I still have my GTX 670 that I bought for around €460 a long while back. I want another card to last me this long. RX 480 seems to be too weak to be relevant for couple of years (but yeah the price is attractive). Dual gpu is a joke, so I'm not getting two RX480's
>>55285950
it might be in 2-3 years when vulkan and dx12 pick up and engines can make proper use of multi GPU setups
but even then it'll be finnicky at best and not as good as one good GPU overall
>>55285965
>half price
