So I go a x5650 off ebay had a i7 920, when I put the x5650 in

So I go a x5650 off ebay had a i7 920, when I put the x5650 in on a fresh install of windows I installed chrome wouldn't open and was getting lines on my screen thought it was the video card tried diff video card same thing change back to my i7 920 and everything is fine again is the xeon I got junk?
