I've used it before when needing encrypted sqlite dbs for android apps.
It's pretty simple to use, never had any real issues with it.
It uses OpenSSL and other crypto libraries instead of trying to implement their own and I haven't heard of any big exploits for it yet.

Well actually, there was the auto update vuln not so long ago. But the workaround is easy: turn of automatic update checking.
I'll still pick that over having my stuff somewhere outside my control.
