yaay macbros.
the only thing special I have, is I took out the CD drive, moved my 500gb hdd over, and got a ssd. looks like i need to do some cleaning/upgrading. this 2011 tank is holding up well
>>55265517
Doing the same with my PowerBook except going dual SSDs. Also upgrading the screen from XGA to SXGA+
Self refurbished
>>55265542
Niiice. What year PowerBook? Those things were sweet. I bet the screen will make worlds of difference.
I did the ram upgrade and the disk upgrade a little over 3 years ago now. Now your comment on dual SSD's makes me want to go 16gb ram and better disks.... was it hard to find a screen? I hate the 1280
Lovely device. Shame Samsung doesn't sell laptops here in Europe anymore.

Linux is good on toasters and servers. But not a daily driver. Face it.
>>55265611
Doesn't help. They're only selling meme-tablets here anymore and that's that.

2006, it's a 12" 1.5GHz G4.
>hard to find a screen
No, I'm just buying an x60t screen off aliexpress
>>55265709
ooo such a good year! I miss those plastic designs in a way. very functional.
hmm, how'd you research that an x60t screen will for sure fit in your laptop? A quick google didn't yield much for my make and model. the unibody makes me nervous of what screens could fit

I saw some guy discussing how he used an x60t screen on some site then found this

Made 10 years ago this summer
>>55265847
128MB on the GPU btw. even 720p video is choppy
>>55265860
You should install a video accelerator.
>>55265888
hardware acceleration makes temps go above 90c. I like to keep it below that
>>55265914
That's scary. Have you maintained the cooling for it at all? Dust buildup kills all.
>>55265632
Hello, little homie.
>>55265955
its clean as can be. Replaced thermal grease couple of years ago which helped a couple degrees. Reading around on forums the temperatures are pretty normal for this model

pretty decent little guy, monster battery life for a laptop its age, still get upwards of 10 hours' use out of it
perfect for classes
>>55262758
very comfy device
>>55265979
>>55265955
also completely replaced the fan assembly a few years ago to get rid of a know problem with a annoying pulsating fan sound (I did try the hole drilling trick first which made the fan unstable if anyone think replacing the entire thing was overkill)
>>55266008
capable of things my old thinkpad couldnt do, lel
Got this 3 weeks ago.
>>55265052
Could ya pass me that wallpaper
I want to put an ssd in this laptop, not sure which one tho. Then put the old hard drive in an enclosure and use it as an external.

Linux isn't for me, and I'm not about to install Ubuntu or Debian only to have another one of you neckbeards tell me to install arch or how to work around systemd.
Had this since early 2013. With an SSD it's dead silent and boots to the desktop in 11 seconds.
