How does it suck though anon? All I hear on this board is that it's shit and it sucks. Nothing to back up those claims. I've had more issues with NTFS and fat32 (3 corrupted drives, windows "fixing" a NTFS flash drive, which caused all data to be lost, and windoes booting with "filesystem error" and nothing else.) in a month than 4 years with hfs/hfs+
>>
>>55234558
>muh anecdotal evidence
I've lost more data to HFS+ in the 6 years I've been using it than in the previous 10 that I used FAT32 and NTFS. In fact, I've never had any issues with corruption before I moved to OS X. I can't find the site anymore but there used to be a guide that would walk you through file corruption on HFS+ with 100% accuracy, that's just how shitty it is.

Well it was first claimed that HFS+ sucks, so it'd be reasonable to provide some proof of that first.

And I'm honestly curious why. I don't have any Apple devices or anything major against them. Is HFS+ the file system Linus was bashing a while back?

iOS's XNU is closed source, OS X's is open source.
>>

You also must keep in mind that Windows is used a lot more than OSX is and that too will skew the numbers.
>>

>mfw people require a file manager on a cell phone

>>55238550

>literally choosing your phone based on how compatible it is with 4chan

Also, It can safe gifs, Photos just can't view them. If you have Google Photos, you can view saved gifs in it just fine.
>>
>>55240725
You seem to underestimate how great being able to actually manage files is.
>>
>>55240756
And you don't know how great it is to just use a real computer instead.
>>
>>55240766
Sure I do, but if I'm on my phone it's because I'm not at a real computer, dumbass.
>>
>>55240756

No, I know exactly how "great" it is. Before my iPhone, I had four Android phones in succession, all rooted, all with the capacity to "actually manage files". In practice, doing so turned out to be clunky and fiddly, and modifying system files breaks OTA updates anyway (integrity checks), and it ended up being more trouble than it was worth. Especially when I switched to an iPhone and realized that I could accomplish most of the same ends without modifying the phone at all (I jailbroke anyway for unlimited LTE tethering).
>>
I switched from a Note 4 to a 6S Plus. I wish I had a file manager, but I'm doing just fine without it. I will definitely jailbreak if and when it becomes available.

I knew the limitations of the device when I got it. I just love the ease of use and integration with my other Apple products.

I definitely think that Android has merits and is awesome if you like to tweak your phone. Fanboys are retarded
>>

I guess you prefer to be locked down. I prefer to be able to move files.

>iphone babies dont know you can get the same battery life as their iphone gets
>iphone users have no problems with updates just bricking their phones
How does it feel to be retarded, waste money, and think you're some big shot because you own a iphone?
>>
>>55240825

I prefer a phone that works. The "features" you "gain" on Android, in my experience, are half-baked, lazy hacks that can't be relied upon without extensive fiddling, which is not something that should be a requirement for a device to function properly.

You only think you need that shit because your neckbearded ass thinks you do. Trust me, I used to be you. You're me from three years ago.

I used iOS for years. Sure you can get by without a file manager, but it sucks. iFile was the first thing I installed when I jailbroke. For the record don't try using Android's downfalls against me, I use neither iOS nor Android.

>no file system

nu/g/
>>
>>55240901

When did you stop using iOS? Because
Android was legitimately better c. iOS 6/7. 8 and 9 were the turning points for me. Cloud storage support and system-wide share sheet templates went a long, long way to filling the functional void left behind by the lack of a file manager.

Honestly, I'm convinced that most of /g/ just regurgitates memes from several years prior and never bothers to think for themselves.
>>
>>55240936
Shortly after iOS 8 came out. I installed it, hated it, downgraded to iOS 7, and used that for a few months longer.
>cloud storage
No thank you.
>>
>>55240949

>cloud storage
>no thank you

Keep waiting for that 1TB phone, I guess, or keep waiting for Google and its OEM "partners" to conclude their slapfight over the proper way to handle SD cards.

Or, I guess, keep waiting for Windows Phone to be viable, which I expect will take longer than the other two put together.
>>
>>55240966
Why would I want 1TB in my phone? 16GB internal storage + 64GB microSD card is more than enough.
>still shitting on Android as an argument
I've already told you I don't use Android.
>>
>>55240993

You not using Android is all well and good, but most people who do not choose iOS *do* choose Android as an alternative. In the case of people who do use Android, they may *have* a microSD card slot, but they're at the mercy of a very dumb pissing match between Google and the OEMs over how to actually use it. The handling of SD cards in Android has changed several times over the last four years, and, just when we reached a point that would provide maximum compatibility and function (extend the filesystem onto the SD card), LG, Samsung, and OnePlus all decide not to support the feature, actively removing it from their versions of the ROM. It's all incredibly gay.

I'm not sure what it is you use, but if it's Windows Phone or a dumbphone, prepare to be laughed out of all civilized circles.
>>
>>55241036
That's neat and all, but I don't give a shit

You want some proof Apple is pants-on-head retarded? Just look at the .dmg format. Binary data structures describing partitioning information of the file encoded in base64, stored as values in a plaintext XML dictionary representation ( an ugly one at that ), and that stored inside a outer binary format.
