I recently noticed that the battery percentage on my Droid Turbo has been going down quickly, roughly 10% in 8 minutes. It has never done this before, but 6 months after buying it it's happening.
What can I do to prevent this?
Should I replace the battery if possible?
Do "battery saving" apps actually help or are they just gimmicks?

Do you have facebook installed? Uninstall it.

I have this same phone.
6 months is pretty soon to see that issue, look into the mfg warranty to see if you can get a new one.
Battery replacement will cost you a good chunk so not worth it. Buy a small external battery bank and use it to charge up periodically while you do your day to day stuff.
Yes battery apps are gimmicks. Just close out your extra apps if you're done using them.

As an aside, I've had my turbo since December 2014. No real issues except for the volume button becoming a little wobbly
Factory reset it, don't install anything. If it keeps draining fast then rma it.

Limit your mobile fetching. I've had mine a year and a half and I chalked up current battery to age even though it's still somewhat decent. Went on a 5 hour flight watching movies for that long non-stop with airplane mode and only lost 30%. I'd normally lose that much over 4 hours otherwise while using it like a normal phone.

Does turning airplane mode on help increase battery life?
