They don't have to compete. AMD's integrated graphics are better than Intel's, but they still aren't good enough to replace a full card.
Either you need more power than an integrated chip and will need to buy a GPU anyway, or your most intensive task is streaming Netflix to your shitty 1366x768 display and an Intel chip is more than enough anyway. 99% of normies do not need more than Intel Graphics.
