The limit applies to a single database file. It is possible to split your >2gb db to smaller ones.

Access' selling point is the GUI interface, formatted forms, reports and the likes. I'm not saying that these are useful but is there anything equivalent for sqlite? AFAIK one can plug sqlite to libreoffice base though.
