Would you have liked Ubuntu more if it hadn't been revealed to be part of an Amazon botnet?
>>
>>55217806
>have liked

American education at it's finest.
>>
No.
I don't like it because it has outdated software in repos, and it tries to shove GUI down the user's throat, even though cli seems to be better from my experience. I just hate it when GUI breaks, and it takes a lot of effort to change a single setting.
>>
Yes, absolutely.

It would be great to recommend/give to new or stupid Linux users if it wasn't for the Amazon botnet. It's not right to recommend it anymore though.
>>
>>55217806
There's nothing wrong with Ubuntu Unity.
>>
>>55217813
What would be the correct way then?
>>
>>55217850
"Would you of liked"

I like Ubuntu a lot because it's easily the best Linux distro, and even Google uses it.

Since Canonical and Microsoft are partners, I don't even care if they ship with telemetry.
For me, Ubuntu is dead.

Canonical made this thing happen:
"When you install GNU/Linux, you have freedom, no malware and no spyware, except you use Ubuntu."

you are all fucking morons. it was simply a search lens, that as of now (16.04) has been disabled by default. get over it, because the minuscule problem is gone. if you're still on a version prior to 16.04, the search "feature" is disabled in under 8 seconds by following the simple steps here: https://fixubuntu.com/

>>55217824
>I don't like it because it has outdated software in repos
so does debian, and every distro based on it. that's why there are repos and PPAs.
>>
>>55218064
>b-but your can turn it off
welcome to windows user tier logic

This

Not that Anon but I liked starting with Ubuntu because I learned as I stripped it down. I got to go through each program one by one, learn what it did and either remove or replace it as needed. It's as good a way to learn as starting from bare bones, with the added fun of breaking everything when you remove something critical. Dumping Unity was a scary fucking moment.
>>
>>55218092
>knowing what applications do is the same as learning about the operating system
i bet you put "Expert in Linux" on your resumé
>>

Your new is showing. Debian has more branches than stable. Sid is rolling release and bleeding edge just like Arch.

>>55218118
Don't shit on the first step of learning something, you French faggot with your accent marks and irregular capitalizations.

>He doesn't set his keyboard to international
Monolingual plèbîáns, everyone.

i like it just fine. easy to remove, and only on unity anyhow, which i don't use at all.
>>
They removed the amazon shit over a year ago, its time to move on OP
>>
>>55217855
Englishman here, this isn't even correct English you fucking American goon
>>
>>55217806
Remove Canonical and Ubuntu is fixed.
>>
>>55219541
I know that, I just wanted to see if the Amazon stuff colored people's opinion about Ubuntu more than the idea that it's a noob's Distro.

yes yes you think you're a special dropout snowflake and ubuntu isn't shitty enough

the amazon meme is gone but will be repeated for years, I like how now that it's gotten your gay little traction that you losers started a few years ago, it's seen as a more serious thing based SOLELY on the fact that "muh amazon" has been repeated on that time.

ubuntu has done more than any other loser basement sperg distro has for linux by making it popular, of course if you're a true turd you'd insist that popularity is bad.

If it isn't amazon, it'd be some other autistic reason. Thankfully the ones on the deep end of the shit-linux spectrum are starting to move to BSD which only exists for this reason, when you think linux is too mainstream now.

You losers invented the idea of a "noob" distro, your dumbass "noob distro" is running a lot of the internet like websites, web apps, people rely on it instead of just dicking around butt diddling on IRC trading desktops and pretending to be an anime girl.
>>
>>55217806
It's great. I use gnome though. I don't like unity.
>>
>>55221559
Chill anon, I don't associate with those hipsters. All I wanted was an honest answer.

It's the present perfect sense, idiots. There is literally nothing wrong with its use in OP's question.

>>55217999
I am not OP or other anons, but I am easily trolled by grammar trolls. Also, pic related; trips have been checked.
