I got a 16:10 2009-era monitor off of craigslist to finally be dual monitor master race, but there's a noticeable amount of overscan that makes text look shity. Internet only mentions this problem for HDTV's, but not for PC monitors. changing resolution for both to match the 1050p monitor doesn't help, and the overscan option on AMD catalyst is greyed out.

You might want to try connecting your PC to the monitor via VGA since that is analog, then trying to crop the video input with the monitor's menu.
