What does /g/ think about Jython and JVM languages except for Java in general?
Looks pretty fucking ugly to me
I used to be enthusiastic about Scala and Clojure, but they turned out to be pajeet-tier shit as well. Haskell and R5RS ftw.

Java is shit, but the JVM is bretty gud. I like Scala and particularly Clojure. Jython seems cool too, I like Python.

I post this dank meme a lot, because it makes me at least smirk every time I see it, for some reason, but I really mean it this time.

Kotlin looks like a decent alternative to Java, but I'd much rather have Swift ported to Android's JRE.

Other than the warts in interop support in clojure, what are you not liking about it anymore?
java the language has lots of bad design decisions and limited options for improvement, but you can compile scala or python to jvm bytecode so

I'm being forced to use Nashorn Javascript for work. God is it shitty.
>slow
>basic tasks take 10x as long to type out and 2x longer than that whenever I need to check Java's documentation, which is 90% of the time
>JS and Java syntax dont mix at all
I don't get it. the thing I'm working is for a website. Why can't I just use front-end js for this shit, or node for that matter? Why the fuck is the main language for scripting Groovy?
How the fuck can a company that makes choices like this be so goddamn successful?
>>55212088
the problem with JVM is that it's made for java, so it has shit support for multiple languages
type inference suffers for example

Why not Cython if you're looking for gains in processing times (CPU limited tasks)
