Exynos yes. Wouldn't buy this locked down shit though.
>>
>>55206808
At the moment yes, by the end of the year probably, past then maybe not.

Its a cool phone though, depends if you need its features and have the money to entertain the luxuries. Hope no-one robs you too
>>
>>55206808
Yes the Exynos S7 Edge is. But 4gb will be mediocre soon once phones with 6 and 8gb ram are in the market.
>>
>>55206874
What is going to suddenly use up the 1-1.5GB free RAM everyone with a 4GB phone currently has?
>>
>>55206808
Someone explain what's so great about this phone.
I used it in store demos on several occasions and it feels utterly ordinary to me. Still has shitty Galaxy 3 design with the huge bezels (except now the casing has a glossy finish and looks even worse).

Is this just a case of "this phone has the most advanced SoC right now"? since when is that the only thing that made smartphones good?
>>
>>55206955
Yes it has the most powerful soc, as well as outstanding battery life, not forcing the 5.5"+ phablet meme, sd card slot, waterproof, premium look and feel, top quality DAC, easy root and bootloader unlock and by far the best quality screen of any phone.

Of course this applies only to the international version, the Americucked model isn't worth it.
>>

would you guys say this phone might be better than whatever the next Nexus is? I've been playing the waiting game since January.
again, I hate the design with a passion but everything else is pretty impressive.

Depends what you value from a phone I guess. Nexus is guaranteed to have no sd slot and below average battery life.

Windows 10 mobile. What is the general consensus? I'm thinking of buying a Lumia 950 XL and then perhaps upgrade to the up and coming Surface phone.

I don't care about the "app gap" at all. I only use whatsapp and a few dictionaries and note apps which are available for Windows as far as I know.
>>
>>55207128
If you don't care about apps or the fact that it's a dead platform with less marketshare than desktop linux, then the hardware itself is actually really good.

Funny that its missing a feature as important as voice unlock.

The fingerprint sensor is on the front like an iPhone instead of on the upper back which is far easier.

Where have you been for the last week or two

One release the OP3 has ram management issues, upon that there is a fix you can do in settings but why OP set them to handle the ram with a leash is yet to be known. The screen is also very lacklustre.

BUild quality and the rest of it is good but there are some heavy downsides and with better phones with similar speccs in the ZUK Z2 Pro and the ZTE Axon 7 released later this year.
>>
>>55207929
>BUild quality and the rest of it is good but there are some heavy downsides

>Implying I unlock my phone with a pin/password

>>
>>55207929
As you said, it's fixed now. It's not going to be perfect, it's a $400 phone. The screen is fine, have you actually used one? unless you're a autist it's completely fine for what 99% of the population will be using it for, Facebook and the occasional game.

ZTE Axon 7 hasn't been confirmed yet if you can unlock boot loader yet and the ZUK z2 Pro is nearly $600.

The screen is not fine by any metric, it is bad. If you're okay with a bad screen, that's lovely but don't go acting like everyone who won't tolerate that in 2016 is somehow inferior to you.
>>
>>55208027
>Abysmal screen
It's a typical 1080p amoled screen and literally the only complaint I've heard of it was from some android review site that pointed out it's pentile, which is supposed to be bad now.

>no sd card

California, US.

My wife is amazing, except she signed us up for Verizon last year and we've been paying 70 bucks each for our phones per month. It's brutal.

Anyone have advice on the cheapest network that still has unlimited talk/text? (She works for the feds and needs unlimited talk/text for work) data would be nice too, we get 2gb for 70 bucks each (she is not a deal hunter)

Is that 2GB split, or 4 total?

Places like Straight Talk or Boost give you 5GB of data for $45 a month per line, and boost lets you grow 3GB to 5GB or 5GB to 8GB over time.
>>
>>55208157
Different anon. I've ordered the OP3, but I honestly feel that the €399 price level is so high when there already are used S7's for €100 more from people who renewed their contract and want the monies instead of the phone. That whole "half the price of a flagship" is pure autism. If it turns out to be shit, I'll return it and get my money back.
>>
>>55208173
It's 4gb split. The main problem with it is she works from her phone and needs data so ee usually allocate 3 1/2 to her, I just use Google maps and such with my half.

I'll go check out boost mobile. I also heard something about Google having a phone service here in Cali

My phone has barely any internal memory and a lot of my apps can't be moved to the SD card. With Android 6.0, supposedly you can format the SD card to be your internal memory. However, there's no official update for this phone yet. Do those custom ROMs require your phone to be rooted?

Alternatively, I'm willing to root my phone and use that folder mount app, but not too familiar with it. Don't give a shit about the phone warranty being void, just don't want to brick it or get disconnected from my carrier.

>>55208533
Yeah same here. This is an LG Optimus L9 and T-Mobile refuses to update it any more.
>>
>>55208685
I love t-mobile and the wifi calling, but the Z3 has had 6.0 for awhile, but they just dropped them for no reason.
>>
>>55208568
The N4 was starting to fail i think. Battery life was abyssmal - and it also couldn't stay connected to cell towers if the battery was below 25%

Aside from that, the amount of heat it generated and the fact i already broke it twice along the way (replaced both front and back)
The camera quality, let's not pretend that it was ever good

It was a good phone, but i decided to move on

Not sure if i'll stay with that iPhone, i might get one of those battery cases and if that doesn't work i'll just get something different, but i like how smooth the OS is
>>
My OPO has served me well, but I'm after an upgrade.

The one thing that's always let the OPO down imo is the camera. Wanting something with great battery life, good camera, and about to unlock boot loader.

Just know what LTE bands your carrier uses (both primary and secondary) and then go to the manufacturer's site. A lot of chink manufacturers have Indian sites so you can browse them in English. For example, T-Mobile primarily uses band 4 (part of the AWS block) but also uses band 2, and is rolling out band 12 to penetrate buildings in areas with existing coverage. This looks like a good guide: http://www.phonearena.com/news/Cheat-sheet-which-4G-LTE-bands-do-AT-T-Verizon-T-Mobile-and-Sprint-use-in-the-USA_id77933

/g/uys, what to buy?

MANDATORY:
>1080p
>No bigger than 5.5"
>At least 2 GB RAM (3 GB preferred)
>Micro SD or 64+GB storage
>Double tap to wake
>Capacitive buttons under the screen
>Gyroscope, Compass

WOULD BE NICE:
>Dual SIM
>IR Blaster
>Above-average camera

I was looking at Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro, but it doesn't have double tap like many other Xiaomi phones.
Honor 5C seems decent, but has on-screen buttons and no gyro/compass?
Vodafone Smart Ultra 6/7... again, no gyro.

I feel like I'm running out of options in the 200-300 USD price range. Maybe some of the new Asus Zenfone 3's?

My Note 4 has crazy keyboard laggs and so many random crashes. It once was a top notch phone but now it seems to shit itself. I already deactivated all animations, limited processes and used another launcher. It keeps shitting itself. (planed obselence?)

Galaxy S7 (SM-G930F) or you can get the edge. And it's also international so it will work on all GSM carriers just so you know. And you can load a custom CSC to get Samsung Pay to work.
>>
>>55212512
I would say yes it is very much worth it. If you're. Not a fan of the edge version, get the SM-G930F international version. And you can also get Samsung Pay to work if you flash the XSG, AFR or AMO, CSC files. If you want more info you can email me at

Are you sure? The S7 apparently has issue with xposed, which is the main reason I'd need a phone to be rootable.

Hey guys, I've been using an iphone 6 and finally got around to fucking the screen up after years of never dropping any of my phones (so I never bought a case since I never drop my phones... until this morning).
I'm using ATT and am in the U.S. I received an email saying I'm eligible for an upgrade if I turn in my current phone.
I was thinking about getting an iphone 7 when it rolls out since ios is simple and 'just works'. I originally bought it because I didn't want to think about how my phone works and android phones a few years back just felt clunky and basically shit.
I've been interested in working on android programs though so I'm considering maybe making a jump to hideous green text bubbles and was wondering what a clean, well designed android phone would be to choose. The Nexus 6p looks like it's pretty solid with a suite of software that isn't horribly awkward to work with.
Thoughts? Advice?
I use my phone mainly just for watching cat videos, making calls, texting, gps, and occasional shitposting.
Thanks.
>>
>>55213172
>rooting doesn't drain battery life
You're mistaken. It does with xposed. And if someone is rooting there phone they are going to want to flash some sort of ROM or kernel which will make your battery life specifically for the GS7 go way down. Saw it happen to 3 people. So let's get back to the actual conversation of him wanting to root just for no ads I. YouTube and xposed for no reason whatsoever. The pros of not rooting outweigh the cons by far. Enough said anons

The quick charging does work on custom roms. Where did you get that idea from? The battery is fine unless you want it to not be charged for 2 days. Nothing wrong with the screen besides being 1920x1080, which only matters if you use VR.

What I've done is look at all the old flag ships.
Other than the 810 shit, everything from the last 2-3 years have dropped by at least 50% of its original price, while performance has halted to a stop. About the only improvement large enough to warrant the price difference has been display efficiency and technology.
Otherwise, every phone now, the OEMs are cutting as much out as possible to turn their profit. Fucking every device is gimped with something being omitted, or it's an 700 S7 or 6s.
And even America where you can get those on a plan, they're still not even with it.

Hey /spg/ I have had an HTC M8 (red) since it came out. It didn't impress me so I treated it like I didn't care, a few days ago I dropped it one too many times and now the power button is constantly touching. I can lift the phone by the bottom and the power button will move and rest on the switch making it reboot. It also holds the button so when I hit home, it just takes screenshots.
Clearly I'm in need of a replacement and have been out of the know for a while.

The seller's last transaction was at least 6 months ago for two iPads and they don't show much information about his other transactions. In resume: I'd start looking elsewhere, it's not like the S4 mini is the ultimate phone ever and this isn't even an amazing deal because there are plenty of $150 phones from much trustworthy places.

Display isn't bad at all, calibration is (and the next OTA will have a new calibration so you can fix the colors). 64GB is enough, also Nexus doesn't have SD card support and no one is complaining. Quick Charge will soon work with custom ROMs since they will release the source code next month. Can't say anything about battery, maybe a custom ROM will fix it, and it's not that terrible anyway, just average. All in all I give you 3/10 for effort and for parroting the same opinions again and again

To be fair it doesn't work on custom ROMs *yet*.

Xperia cameras are extremely bad in low-light conditions. Literally even a fucking Moto E does a better photos in the dark.

In daylight they're fine, though. Still behind competition, but fine.
