So why did they use RISC instead of CISC?

Do ANY supercomputers use CISC? It seems like shooting yourself in the foot.

Anything running Intel chips do.

Because practically everything non-x86 isn't CISC

Doesn't the Tianhe-2 run on CISC x86?

This is going to get shit on real soon by the US. These are primitive RISC chips that while they do have impressive performance-per-watt compared to old AMD opterons are still lightyears behind the latest xeon-d processors.

A supercomputer with chips like pic related would not only be more powerful but 2-4X more energy efficient too. Add in some polaris GPUs to shit on the chinks twice as much.
>>
>>55207274
>This is going to get shit on real soon by the US
Yeah, I bet. Like how the Tianhe-2 got shit on by... oh wait, China.
>>
sunway sounds like some indian car company
>>
>>55207304
The US has been slagging lately but we do have the hardware for better supercomputers.

Anyway it's still interesting we are going to reach 1 exaFLOPS. Maybe that will finally be enough to simulate a human brain in real time.
>>
>>55207409
>we do have the hardware for better supercomputers
>more Chinese supercomputers in the top 500 than US supercomputers
>top 1/2 is from China
>2 is 2x as fast as the top US computer
>1 is 3x as fast as that
Brah. You can talk about "made in merica supercomputer is high quality" or whatever the fuck, but for a supercomputer the only thing that matters is speed. It doesn't fucking matter if the US supercomputer has red LEDs to make it look like a gaymen supercomputer.
>>
>>55207435
Are you implying these custom RISC turds can compete with the latest x86 Broadwell-DE chips?

Like I said, we fucking have the hardware but the US has been slacking.

Fuck off. Everyone knows red leds are the fastest computers. It's basic physics. Pic related.
>>
>>55207475
I like how you use RISC like it means it's inherently shit
>>
>>55207274
>polaris GPUs
Maybe I'm dumb but I would think they wouldn't be used by supercomputers.
>>
>>55207507
GPUs can do double precision calculations (ie 64FP) and are very energy efficient at the same time.

The Rx 480 is capable of ~2 TFLOPS of 64FP performance and only consumes a max of 150W. That gives it about 14 GLOPS/watt. That's about 2X as energy efficient as this chinkshit supercomputer.
>>
Thinks kind of computers can crack encrypted files¿?¿
>>
>>55207504
It is shit because it's a primitive new cpu designed by chinks. intel has already been making processors with RISC cores with CISC interpreters for eons.

What you thought modern x86 processors were 100% CISC?

So, how many milliseconds after boot did it take for it to reach self-awareness?
>>
>>55207660
Depends on password length and encryption used. But basically brute forcing a 256-bit AES key derived from say a 16 random char password is literally fucking impossible for now and maybe forever.
>>
>>55207548

Thanks for tripfagging. Another name to the filter. I'm not sure why shitposters would tripfag, but it sure makes filtering you morons easier.

Each processor chip contains 256 general-purpose processing cores, and an additional 4 auxiliary cores for system management, for a total of 10,649,600 CPU cores across the entire system.
>10,649,600 CPU cores

>>55207660
HOWEVER a super computer like this would probably crack most passwords in seconds with a dictionary attack. Most people do not use AES-256 keys and their passwords are usually 4-8 characters long and not random (ie "cuck45" "divorce8" "1234").

Well the LINPACK score is verified and it meshes with the specs. If you're going to be skeptical be skeptical of the power draw and applicability for things other than LINPACK. e.g. it has almost no cache

also, the articles in C'T(Magazin für Computertechnik) mentioned that several times

there are also other reasons why you wouldn't want everyone to know how your supercomputer is set up.
