It's a slow Javascript piece of shit that crawls on my Core i3 laptop. Even Chrome is more responsive.

>Even Chrome is more responsive.

Vivaldi is built on top of Chromium. It's basically Chrome with a skin.
>>
>I can't build it from source
>there's no "control everything with the keyboard in a vim-like way" mode
>>
>>55204955
This, pretty much. It's fucking slow as dog shit. I had hoped it'd improve after the 1.0 release but if anything it got worse.

Don't feel like I'm missing much, it's yet another Chrome skin with a couple of features thrown on top.

Replaceable by open source chromium, inox or firefox

Vivaldi is a dead meme by now. If you want closed sourced browser with functionality in mind just use Opera
>>
>>55204937
Everything you listed is bloat, Chrome works perfectly fine without any problems what so ever, and it looks more mature compared to your toy-looking browser, especially with the new re-design. There is literally no reason to switch to your trash browser.

>>

You cant remove the fucking search box and the meny toggle shit should be where chrome puts its, not where i automaticall click to switch to the 1st pinned tab. and why the fuck is there a fucking trash can there, it should be movable to somewhere else or gone all together.

can i migrate my firefox profile to it with all the bookmarks passwords and settings?

I was using Comodo Dragon for a while but I think chromium forks have a habit of scary off girls.

>anon why does your browser icon look funny
>its actually Comodo Dragon a secure freeware fork of the chromium project ...
>um ok bye

IMO its usually not worth it. It's best to stick with a browser that isn't going to distract from your cool ricer i3 theme.

Spotted the shill

10 tabs, all the same sites. Chrome loads instantly, Firecuck is a little bit slower, and Vivaldi loads like pic related. It's a fucking web browser, not a vidya game. It should be instant.

Fuck it, there's not a single good browser out there. Edge/IE are dogshit as always, Firecuck went downhill after the faggots fired the CEO, Qupzilla font rendering looks like dogshit on non-English Windows, Pale Moon is outdated Firecuck shit barely holding together, Chrome is normie botnet shit, and Opera is a reskin of Chrome.
>>
>>55204937
It's proprietary, therefore completely worthless.

I use it as my main browser (linux). But I have to accept that it feels slow.

I am glad Mozilla got rid of Eich. Just look at his new browser. The only reason it exists is because of his ridiculous idea of replacing internet ads with their own ads. Other than that it is just yet another Chrome reskin.

Everything that runs on my PC (HTML/CSS, JavaScript) is not closed source.
>>
You forgot one thing:
>closed source

And that's why.
>>
>>55206785
>JavaScript

I didn't know you could get the source of that obfuscated JavaScript.
>>
>>55206451
Brave browser lets you disable all ads and more importantly, IS FREE AS IN FREEDOM.
>>
>>55206705
Vivaldi is proprietary. Brave is free software.
>>
>>55206892
It is.
https://s.4cdn.org/js/core.min.1003.js is minified, not obfuscated. But by taking out the ".min" you can easily get the non-minified version: https://s.4cdn.org/js/core.1003.js
Same for all the others. Only the new Google CAPTCHA has obfuscated JS. That is, if you don't use the legacy CAPTCHA or did not buy a 4chan pass.

>>55206945
>>55206956
So are most other Chrome-clones. Yet they don't have such a stupid name, icon, and business model. It doesn't matter that you can block ads, the main goal of brave is to replace them.
>>
>>55204937
It's slow. I'm using Opera. It isn't horrible anymore like it used to be after transition to webkit, and has EasyVPN, uBlock and HTTPS Everywhere. THat's pretty much all I need.
>>
tried it out, wasn't too big on the layout. Plus you can't drag a tab into new window.

I'm happy with Firecucks. Why fix something that isn't broken?
>>
>>55206451
I think replacing ads with their own ads would be a good idea if it's only ads outside the acceptable ads whitelist. It would either convince companies to stop with shit ads or companies would stop blocking ad blockers for Brave.
>>
>>55206996
That's why those Chrome clones failed.

And people who want to contribute to content owners without getting raped can use Brave's default settings. /g/ users can continue to block all ads.

Vivaldi is more Opera than modern Opera.

I was using OperaChrome after I got tired of my old Opera 12.50 exploding randomly for no reason, but really didn't see what set it apart from Chrome. Maybe it has been vastly improved in the last year or so which I haven't used it, I don't know, but back when I used OperaChrome it was pretty much just Chrome with a different name on it. Why would you recommend for anyone to use that? Just on the virtue that you think they want a closed source browser with a few mundane features that Chrome/Chromium/Firefox have with basic addons?

There is no reason for Opera to exist anymore. It offers nothing. Chrome is a better no-nonsense browser and Vivaldi is a better kitchen sink included browser.
>>
>>55208035
Vivaldi's got the right idea for features but it won't be better than anything till they implement the UI in something other than JavaScript.
>>
>>55208059
Maybe. But if you want the Opera experience from when Opera was still Opera, there are no alternatives.
>>

>>55204937
Can't tear off tabs is the biggest missing feature for me.

I'm still using it as my daily driver though.
>>
>>55208571
12.16 has some undesired behaviour which bothers me and 12.50, which fixed it, is too unstable.
>>
>>55208666
I heard 12.50 was just some beta of an even older Opera version so I never bothered with it. Haven't had any issues with 12.16 though

It's more like an alpha quality snapshot and was scrapped because Opera moved onto Chrome. It was supposed to be the next version of Opera. It improved on a lot of things, but since it's an alpha quality snapshot it's very unstable. I couldn't go back to 12.16 after using 12.50 snapshot, it was just so much better for me.

>small window buttons

That screenshot was taken on Linux and the tab tiling feature is p. cool, not just putting two windows side-by-side like on windows or ubuntu, but doing the tiling within the actual browser.

Jewggle botnet.

No auto-update, no decent pdf support (except for pdfjs) and still calls back home to google.

Chinese botnet.

Only has SJW problems and bad dev choices, thats it.

Open source, kinda slow but has better feature development than everything else.

For me your options are either Firefox or Vivaldi.
Maybe IceCat-Weasel/SeaMonkey, idk.
>>
>>55204937

no thank you
>>
>>55213859
Just because you can see the code doesn't imply that it's open source. The wikipedia page describes the license that it's proprietary software with various open source components.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vivaldi_(web_browser)
>>
>>55213914
>Vivaldi's in but Chromium's out
Vivaldi's just a Chromium web app.

Also for the record SeaMonkey's basically a less shit Firefox with Thunderbird built in.
>>
>>55214528
You can only see the useless parts of Vivaldi. The rest is closed source.
>>
>>55204937
it's slower that chrome and even FF
chromium is basically the same thing except without the slow bloat on top of it
