So what disks does /g/ swear by? What has failed? Longest living hard drive you have?

Does anyone here have toshiba x300 disks? They are cheap (£140 for 6tb) but I can't find any reviews of them anywhere for some reason.

Personally I have 4x4tb WD meme reds which I regret buying because they're expensive and slow as shit. The 3x3tb Toshibas on the other hand only cost me £65, half of a 4tb Red and much much faster and don't run much hotter although they're 7200rpm.

Seashit reporting in.

It's been 'failing' for 3 years but still just twerks.

It's the glorious barracuda 7200.11, 3 of them died quickly but this one seems bomb proof.

I have 3 hard drives 2 of witch are stand-ins for something else.

1x Maxtor 8Mb 7200rpm 40GB HDD made 1999
(failed on me 3 times in 2015 Very loud now bearly even boots corruption everywhere thing is too subborn to die)

>(replacing with SD card did testing today passed with impressive results at 80mb/s read need to clone the disk and use 4adapters to get it to go and yes it all works with all four adapters)

1 3tb HDD Seagate less than 5 months old using it as a stop brake for very large storage for now, brand new. .(replaces exact model dated 15 years old again just 7500 writes no bad sectors never had a problem like ever.)

60GB fujistsu IDE Laptop drive)
( having problems being external drive keeps erasing it self on power off super annoying fuck IDE unstable shit first platter showing signs of failing)

1 WD 500GB 5400RPM disk read errors everywhere same age as the seagate died right on end of warranty loud as fuck and shit at everything
now paper weight lol.

1. 20GB IBM HDD 7200 RPM
this thing woun't fucking die or lose data 25 years and still no error just fucking die fucking HDD shit. (now powers my "smart" washing machine)

not long until in stop being on the HDD master race
sorry lads.

Nobody cares about your pathetic life, tripfag.

Now fuck off.
>>
>>55204463
Sorry retard but as long as it's cheaper to buy HDD instead of SSDs for multi terabyte arrays you can shove your SSDs up your lose asshole.

>I have 3 hard drives 2 of witch are stand-ins for something else.
I can't into math fug, I mean 5 HDD's

>>55204463

fucking pb tech con artists
>>
>>55204523
They are. They have their uses and purpose. If you want t a 8tb+ array and it's simply not affordable, unless you absolutely need the throughput.

You don't need the throughput of 4+ SSDs to store porn and media you colossal cocksniffer.

>get out a loan?

(O_o)
>$9,603.08NZD
>6877.73 US Dollar

fuck this how much I paid for my car early this year holy shit.

I see enthusiasts just like wasting money?

I suppose if i had one it would be the same cost of my powerbill over 30 years and yes its 130NZD a month.
>+600MB/s
>4tb
Gee that's just too much power for me but i get your point.

anon your going to have to stop okay.
really here for all your storage needs.

just 4 for these can top 8 GB
Samsung 850 EVO MZ-75E2T0BW 2TB, 3D V-NAND, SATA III 6GB/s, R/W(Max) 2.5".
at 4595.40NZD or 3290.61 US Dollar

3 grand gets you a semi-decent car or four very nice SSD's

I'm a western digital man but have a seagate external I got as a gift and it works fine.

I don't really pay attention to speeds much. They both seem to get around 15-17mbps
>>
>>55204168
>toshiba dt01aca300 3tb
Died at initial drive encryption. Get replaced and works fine for 10k hours now. Fast and quiet.

My IBM Deathstar 75GXP (pic related, not mine) still worked last I powered it up, maybe 5 years ago. I got many years of reliable use from it. I assume it still works if I can find an IDE cable.

I have a WD Green 1.5TB with a huge number of bad sectors but still working.
>>
I bought a OCZ Trion 150 480 gb for 100 usd off Amazon, how fucked am I?
>>
>>55204933
Are you me?

I have 3 of the dt01aca300s and about to get a fourth, the price is unfuckingbeatable.

I've had Hitachi's that were rock solid for years too.

My one of my four barracudas 7200.11 is still going as of now and my sandisk ultra plus is also still going and I'm abusing it quite a bit.

I bought a 5 Tb one a week ago,
they are really new though so you won't get tons of reviews but there is one for the 5 Tb from some guy living in Singapore ,

best bang for the buck,
however it does make noise and can get quite hot,max temp I got before I put it in a fanned area was 49 celcius, after I got some fans blowing on it the max was 40 celcius, max temp it can function at is 55 celcius,

still worth it though - it performs fast and does its job, now to wait and see how long it lasts, next year I will buy their 8 Tb version if it comes out
>>
>>55205271

Well it was the cheapest 100 dollar 480 ssd.

I hope I don't get meme'd.
>>
In 2007 I got a Dell Dimension 9200. It was a pretty good machine for its time and I used it until 2014. However the two harddrives Dell fucking put into there were set to RAID and of course one of the two failed after 1 year and the other suddenly destroyed itself 2 weeks later and I almost lost a shitton of important data because I didn't own large external backups back then.

I usually buy Western Digital harddrives.
>>
>>55205377
Why do you keep saying "Tb"? Too lazy to capitalize both or just retarded?
