What's your excuse for not using pale moon over firefox?

Also, pale moon thread.

It's clean and under the same free license as firefox is, MPL 2.0
>>
>>55192282
Because it's outdated garbage, based on a three year old version of Firefox with security patches botched onto it by a Dutch furry and lacking support for basic modern web features like Media Source Extensions. Even he recently admitted that the whole thing is a burning tyre fire and needs to be scrapped and started over from scratch.
>>
>>55192315
Building from source is too complicated, and I won't trust this guy's binaries. I'll just stick to FF.

>>
>>55194048
Sure, its really fast on load, everything works compatibility wise. The least botnet chrom* based browser as far as I'm concerned.
Added flash and made portable as well,
iridium.exe -user-data-dir="*path to*\profile" -ppapi-flash-path="*path to*\pepflashplayer.dll" -allow-outdated-plugins
only reason I'm using waterfox as well is cause I really need load on demand and tab groups, just how I browse.
Iridium opens in a second, though, I think eats more ram initially.

yeah ok. check for yourself on firefox 24 esr. they are different.

also, pale moon is going to be rebased off a newer version soon, with MSE support.

you can use firefox if you really want 60 fps youtube that bad. twitter videos not working is annoying however (though that's more twitter's fault serving borderline corrupted media files)

How does the Palemoon browser differ from vanilla firefox besides changing the theme? Does it strip out integration for bloatware and DRM shit, like Pocket and EME? I'm in the market for a trimmed down, possibly privacy enhanced firefox fork with reasonably fast security updates. I am most in hate with things like google analytics.
>>
>>55194148
really looking forward to new pale moon, waterfox is cool, but Ill feel at home with pale moon
>>
I use palemoon with noscript because I like my browser fast and secure
>>
>>55194377
EME is not and will never be included in Pale Moon. Pocket and other bloat features like telemetry/mozilla crash reporter are nonexistent.

You can read more about what's included/disabled here
palemoon.org/technical.shtml

Also, Pale Moon just got a security update yesterday, so it is still actively maintained.

It's on github. There isn't just one person developing it.

If it bothers you that one guy primarily works on it, maybe you should learn programming and help.

Since FF43 I cant disable plugin-container anymore, meaning Youtube is slow as a bitch and also I notice a few playback bugs.

Can I still disable it in Pale Moon? The pref is ipc.enabled something.
>>
>>55194605
Icecat's anus is currently wide open with the end of support for ESR 38. If they don't move to 45+, they have to become a proper fork or give up. No comment yet.

They haven't said if they are or aren't. A week now, and no comment. torbrowser has already moved to esr45, but I don't wanna use tor. I want a de-AIDSed firefox with fingerprint resistance and support for my favorite extensions.
>>
>>55192282
well internet explorer was already installed i guess. So why not just stick to that?
>>
>>55194812
So you think Microsoft/Canonical/Red Hat etc don't have agendas?

What agenda would a Dutch furry programmer have?

Lastly, where's the proof Pale Moon is malicious software to begin with? Oh right, you're a lazy paranoid fuck who can't use virustotal to scan the binaries or build the source.
>>
>>55194723
Or maybe people care about other people just a little, and when you find a good thing you want to share it and make people use it cause its good and they might not know it\be deluded by memes about it.
>>
>>55194439
Newsflash.. EME will be available in the Pale Moon next generation browser.

The only reason it does not exist in the version 24 based one is that they can not find a way to implement it.

They have hidden their incompetence behind some sugar coat and called it moral decision.
>>
>>55194842
They do, their agenda is profit.
>what agenda would a Dutch furry programmer have?

Who the fuck knows?
Microsoft releases quarterly reports on their 'agenda'
What the fuck does Dutch furry do everyday?
>>
>>55194876
says the expert with no successful port of firefox
>>
>>55194439
Their new re-base will be Firefox mid 30's code base. So it will have all the basic features of what that version had. They only remove Australis and the bloat with ripping out the Australis content folder and implementing their old UI folder and fixing the bugs which are upcoming because of that.
>>
>>55194876
Incredible source you have there.
>>
>>55194895
I am no expert, and compared with Moonchild i am a loser for sure.

But still, if you hide the inability to do some stuff behind some nice words because you do not want to make other users switch away from your lesser optimized product is still a simple lie, even if it would be one with a cherry on the top.

It was a 180 degree turn from "What the hell, it is disgusting" towards "Majority of sites demand that, we have no other choice".

If Moonchild would have some real guts, Eme/Mse would still be missing in the re-base.
>>
>>55194952
>>55194981
EME/MSE comes with rebasing to the newer version of Firefox. Moonchild would have to go out of his way to disable it. Obviously this isn't the best interest for a browser that wants to remain compatible with the web and compete with say, Firefox or Chrome.

Maybe you should direct your discontent towards the companies that use DRM video in the first place. Or just avoid those sites altogether. Just a thought.
>>
>>55194955

Firefox 38.0-ESR is better.

>>55194966
yea there is.
>>
>>55195064
Pale Moon is no mass market product, if you serve a niche market you can do something what others can't do. Well, Moonchild has in the end less courage instead of what i wished he would have.
>>
>>55194955
>>55195070
You dialogue was very interesting.

In the end you're both degenerates.
>>
>>55195064
Also, DRM affects music, video... Think i through, how long it will be before it will also affect plain and simple webpages or just pure content.

The times where stuff was allowed to be free or stuff was allowed to be shared as free will die soon. Forced onto us by the hands of large companies.
>>
>>55195115
yes, and?
>>
>>55195128
EME is going to be used to plaster unblockable (as in you block the ad, you block the content as well) ads over websites, I'm calling it.

Everyone cheered for flash to die and everyone moving to HTML5 thinking it would be great. Instead, companies made their DRM a "web standard" and forced browsers to implement them to stay current. This is what you get.

Everyone cheered when Google Chrome came out. The next greatest browser. And after enough marketing, eventually, Google overcame Firefox in marketshare. Google is now using this opportunity to shape the web how they want, because everyone uses their browser and has no choice. Effectively, a modern day IE.

All of you asked for this.

It doesn't matter what browser you use. Why? Websites follow the leader. How it looks and functions in Chrome is the gold standard.

Even if the site is fine now, it will get updated when some web developer pajeet wants to justify his paycheck with a "redesign".

As long as Google dominates the market, your browser must comply or remain outdated forever. As long as big for-profit companies can persuade the W3C to make things standard, there's really no hope for web browsers.
