Are Noctua fans as good as they are hyped up to be? Or are they just well marketed meme fans?
>>
>>55173539
Both.
>>
>>55173539
Use them once.

You'll never go back.
>>
>>55173539
They're the only decent and still available fans for low-profile coolers that are compatible with LGA 1366 sockets. That's already a win in my book.
>>
Literal meme tier
I mean, they're good but not good enough to justify the price
Get bequiet silent wings instead, or noiseblockers if you want silence
>>
>>55173575
Says the person who has never used them.

They come in nice boxes with nice, useful accessories. The cables are done correctly and they don't buzz or whine if you give them an add voltage (fan controller).

If you're not building to a harsh budget, there's no reason not to use them.
>>
>>55173640
This. Great downvolters.
Other fans are not guaranteed to work correctly with downvolting, they either stop spinning or make weird noises.
But you guys are probably noobs who never tuned fan speeds even in BIOS.
>>

Good but overrated.
>>
Should i go for a CM Hyper 212 Evo or a Noctua Nf-f12 PWM?
I'm not planning on doing crazy stuff, just want to change the stock cooler.
>>

Hyper 212 then
>>
The poopfans are probably the best if you want quiet, good quality PC fans, albeit a little overpriced. Cheaper alternatives are almost as good. Are they worth the upgrade? Eh. If you care about noise, probably.

If you're after pure airflow and really don't care about noise (no, seriously, if noise is at all a consideration don't choose these), you'd be better off with Delta or Panaflo. My YS-Techs were still working fine when I decommissioned my last desktop, too.
>>
>>55174548

>delta

No home user has a use for the likes of delta fans - even when trying to air cool a 290x.
>>
>>55173756
>weird noises

Even my cheap generic case fans. work fine at half speed.
>>
>>55173539
meme.

They are quiet, but also move very little air.
Just get normal fans and run them at lower rpm's.
>>
>>55173985
there are better choices these days. check a comparison chart
>>
>>55175563
you literally don't know what you are talking about, probably because you are a poorfag and have never seen an actual noctua fan in real life, let alone use it
>>
>>55173539
Yes, but do you really need them?
>>
They're quality. I guess if you're doing a cucked "budget build" they'll be outside your price range.

But then you shouldn't be gaming in the first place if you have such low means.
>>
fans are a meme
>>
>>55173539
They're very good fans. Quiet, well-made and have that "premium" feel everybody loves from the things they buy, with lots of useless accessories in a nice box. They're not really necessary though. You can get perfectly adequate fans for half the price that will do the job just fine.
>>
>>55176365

I agree.

Quietest fan ever. It's like it's spinning on whispers.

Even when OC'd and temps go up they are quiet at high RPM.
>>
>tfw my shitty exhaust fan is dying
bearing is fucked up, now it's loud. I guess it's because it's an exhaust fan and got fucked up because of temperature. Intake fans of the same brand are ok.
recommend me a 120mm exhaust fan
>>
>>55173539
Been using them for the last 4 builds.

Fwiw OP yes, they are as good as the meme claims. They are also more expensive than other fans. Whether the quality justifies the price is likely never to be agreed on by everyone. But I assure you the quality is there.

The fans are like many other products. For example I put Weathertech form fitting mats in all my vehicles. Are they overpriced? Probably. Are they high quality as fuck and have on multiple occasions held the liquid contents of wn entire large coffee until I could pour the mat out at home? Yes.
>>
>>55173539
fans are fans are fans. Anyone really interested in fan cooled cases would actually start by sealing any gaps on the doors and windows their computer is in and then installing some air conditioning in that room that pumps hot air through vents to the outside and pumps cold air in. They would then use high air flow cases with silent fans. What really counts in keeping a computer cool isnt what fans you use it is the ambient air temperature. the fans just ensure a flow of air into and from the case
>>
>>55176851

>What really counts in keeping a computer cool isnt what fans you use it is the ambient air temperature.

This anon gets it.
>>
Cheap & silent fans for 5-7€ each?
>>
>>55173539
What quiet competitors does it have? I'm not fussed about price.

Using a freezer i30 that has been fucking noisy for years btw. The core fan only makes a noise when it's put into the cap. I've just realised I could stick the fan to the heatsink somehow and drop the cap.

I really want to see some benchmarks of those triple sink behemoths - they really caught my eye.

I got an NH U12S for my first build I'm currently putting together. Would you guys recommend using the thermal paste that came with it or is it sub par product.
>>
>>55173539
way too expensive for what they deliver. Spend your money on a silent case with big fans like the 90° silverstone ones

>>55177429
Typical German engineering. They only work in perfectly clean airflow. If you actually have any components inside your PC they create turbulence. Very annoying sound.
>>
>>55173539
I replaced the fan on my Hyper 212 twice with $12 fans after the first one failed. Neither lasted more than a year. The Noctua fan I use now is showing no signs of wear over a year later.

It's not JUST about noise vs. performance.
>>
>>55177543

>28dba
>104CFM

All they need is some decent static pressure and they are the perfect fan. Does make me want to see how their 120mm fans stack up as I would like to replace some corsair SP120's with something more powerful (though alas I doubt anything more powerful and quieter exists).

>>
Speaking of fans, how many fans would i want to blow into the case and how many that blow out of the case and why
>>
>>55177905
Just have one more blowing in than out to create positive pressure, which helps with dust. Beyond that it doesn't really matter. I only have two intakes and one exhaust and my temperatures are great in a Define R4.
>>
>>55173539
They are the apple of fans. Get be 'quiet' or something.
>>
>>55177905
One more intake than outtake.
Otherwise you'll get a negative pressure (compard to outside) and dust will start leaking in from every hole so to say.

Remember to have dust filters on your intake fans.
>>
>>55173756
>tuning fan speeds in BIOS
just use speedfan
>>
I ordered some for my next build

NF-F12's for radiator and NF-S12A for case fan intake

Im ready to meme
