Me too. I saw a few used 980ti with still plenty of warranty time left and at the price of a 970. The rx 480 has to be at least 970-level to compete.
I am not an autist and am looking for a decent budget gpu. 250$ should be enough to max out shit at 1080p.

I would like AMD to do better but let's face it: they have yet to release a card which will be better than a card they've had for 3 fucking years (290x).

How long after launch will it be before people can actually buy the RX480? E.g., GTX1080s are still sold out at most retailers.
My GPU died a few weeks ago, and I've been stuck on integrated graphics (and Sandy Bridge integrated graphics, at that). If I could actually buy a 480 in 9-14 days, then I'll wait. If its going to be sold out for weeks after launch, fuck it, I'll get a 380x now and upgrade at some other time.

No it doesn't. It gets old drivers bundled in with the new ones as a placebo for gullible people like you. The fact that Nvidia drop old cards like they're hot as soon as a new series comes out isn't in question. The active "gimping" people talk of is the meme. It's just a lack of any updates whatsoever for new gaymes, not active gimping.
