Anyone ever got it? How do you deal with it? seems like it's what's happening to me and boy is it annoying, I've yet to have any real pain, it's just numbness and tingling for now
>>
I've been getting these feelings for a while. The area of my Carpal Ligament and it itself are less than comfortable on my hand. Whenever it gets to bad I just take a day or more off of typing, really helps short-term but i'm guessing my sixties are going to blow.
>>
Get some type of wrist support
>>
>>55167413
When I detected it, I switched to dvorak. Haven't felt it since.
>>
>>55167413
>I've yet to have any real pain, it's just numbness and tingling for now
It's probably strain related and not CTS, but ask a medical professional about it.
>>
>>55167451
They're have 100%+ functional replacement limbs by then

or better yet an exoskeleton type system for movement after cutting the nerves to stop the pain

>>55167465
It's in the mail, hopefully taking a few days off work for healing, but I'm reading it would be a long time to heal if at all even with minimal activity, and I have nothing else to do but jerk off and play video games daily
>>
>>55167479
>but ask a medical professional about it.
I'm american, that would cost like 20 grand, already used my health care up earlier when I needed anti-biotics
>>
>>55167479
Also if I stretch out my hand it feels like electricity is moving through it

Try a mechanical keyboard. Using a chiclet keyboard like on a macbook fucks up my wrists but i can type pain free all day on my mechanical keyboard and my x220 thinkpad

>>55167654
It's incredibly painful currently for me to lift weights or put weight on my palm in either hand, more so on my right
>>
>>55167484
Does it hurt when playing with a controller? You could do that instead of k/m. Also, try getting a thumb ball mouse.
>>
>>55167663
Do pushups
The strain on your wrists strengthens them.
>>
>>55167730
Pretty sure that only has the chance to cause me pain and more damage

Keep your wrist straight when you sleep. I experimented with a brace at night, but am just in the habit of putting my arms in positions that keep them straight now which gets the job done. While at home I use a ball mouse which doesn't require wrist movement when not engaging in gaymen. Also, don't use the feet on the keyboard, keeping the keyboard flatter is a better angel for your wrist.

Often have
These kind of problems run in my family, i would say its a position specific ailment, your hand gets in a specific position and then hurts like a motherfucker
It ranges from severe constant blunt pain, to sharp instantaneous pain
>>
>>55167913
It doesn't bother me too much. Recall that you never see fat old people- that woman is going to die before 50, and she's lucky if she makes it past 40.
>>
>>55167413
I've got it.

The main thing that has helped me, it wearing wrist braces while I sleep. I guess I tend to bend my hands into really weird positions while sleeping, and the braces give me time to recover.

Before I started wearing them, my hands were numb and twitching all the time. Now they are back to normal.
>>
>>55167695
Ya,,,I have a small portable controller, using it slowly makes my hands go numb and eventually causes pain
>>
>>55167984
Well if the brace for my right hand works out I'll probably end up needing one for my left hand as well
>>
Nice meme, I've been using computers since the 90s and never once had issues with my wrist.

Don't have it but know how it would feel as I had my wrist (and part of my inner forearm) cut open pretty badly in an accident. I also lost all feeling in the lower region of my palm (and the inner side of my forearm) when that happened.
>>
>>55169896
I also got the tingling where it was numb but that went away after a month.

I really tried for about 2 months to switch, but it just made me sooo slow then I got a job, and had to switch back. How long did the switch take for you?
>>
>>55170684
You have to keep doing it. Moving your arm up and down in-sync helps, too.
>>
My wrists aren't painful yet but my pinky is getting pretty sore as I use it to press shift, escape (that I remapped to caps lock) and the window key (that is remapped to caps lock too). I'll probably have to change my keyboard layout at some point. It sucks.

you are doing something a lot (lifting, using computer...)
that thing puts a lot of effort in your wrist.
don't do that thing. rest and stretch.
>>
>>55167470
That's because when you switched layouts you typed so fucking slow that your wrists got a break and healed

fuckin not. the last thing you want is to put more stress on the wrist.
do not lift. stretch. if you want to do sports, do it softly until it gets better. avoid sports like boxing, tennis, basketball...

Pile books infront of keyboard, the poorfag solution.
>>
>>55172667
I'm being 100% serious but I don't have that many books to reach the height of my keyboard and I don't have books in general.

Might go to my uni and steal their printer papers and stack em up. Feels ghetto as shit though

I use one of those gel filled bars in front of the keyboard for when I type.

I found a trick for the mouse, just use your entire arm length to cheat. instead of resting your wirst on a wrist rest, rest your forearm on the wrist rest and manipulate the mouse with your hand, your wrist will naturally be up in the air not touching anything and won't get tired in that position.

how fucking snowed in are you?

a visit to the doctor (including ER) here in sweden is max $30, all costs covered.
if i get sent somewhere else the same day, those visits are free.
if i have major surgery and i have to stay at the hospital for a long period it's $8 per day and you get everything you need like 3 meals a day.
if i get more than $120 worth of bills from doctor/nurse visits in less than a year i get a free-card for 1 year from the date of the first visit.
same as above for prescription medicine but $200 limit.

and you get money ($100/month) for studying until you're 20 years old.
and interest rates for loans to study are almost non-existant, and you have your whole lifetime to repay them.
>>
Switch input methods often. Instead of using a mouse use of pen tablet with your computer sometime. It'll change up the type of motion your hands are doing enough that it won't stress your wrists as much.

Dvorak I heard was helpful but takes a really long time to switch to. Funny thing is that people will have no idea how to use your keyboard.

There's a podcast called Cortex that had an episode about repetitive stress injuries and it was interesting to listen to.
>>
You can try these exercises
They help somewhat to relax the arm
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUyMNyrOHJQ

Best would be to switch input devices from time to time, like using a mouse in your job and then using a trackball at home.
>>
Does this shit only happen when you dont exercise regularly? Never had this problem in college when i used to exercise, now three years later outer side of my wrist feels a low sharp pain sometimes.
>>
>>55176283
The cause is repetitive motion leading to repetitive strain on the particular nerve.

Carpal tunnel syndrome falls under repetitive strain injury.

it does not work that way. he has to stop, when he is better, do something to make the wrist stronger.
>>
>>55178232
no, its like saying the best time to lift weights is when you're sore af

which is true in case you're wondering.

if its just regular wrist pain he's being a little bitch and should use it more. if it's real cts, he should rest it.
>>
>>55178264

> the best time to lift weights is when you're sore af

Are you mentally stable?
that works with muscles, and if the pain is for training and not for injuries.
when tendons, bones, nerves are between, you better fuckin stop.

The pains went away after a week or two, I can only imagine what it would be like if you let it get worse and you were stuck with it for life. Fuck that.
