Seriously though, I work for an ISP, and I can log into any of our customer's CPE equipment to run speed tests and check signal. This isn't malicious however, and collecting data about signals and packet loss is just another part of making sure the ISP network is healthy, as well as providing valuable business intelligence data. Automatically assuming that data collection is malicious is jumping the gun
