I know it's not /FL related, but if I buy pepper from the grocery store and plant them, will they grow well? Or should I opt for a specialized plant seed.

Why won't this fucking XBOX one controller driver install correctly?

I fucking have windows 7 updated all the fucking way to it's current fucking cuck edition and the fucking driver still won't install correctly

I unistalled the driver, reinstalled it.
I installed the driver directly from Microsoft
I updated the .Net and reinstalled the fucking driver.

I'm out of fucking options, the controllers work for Xbox one but not my Win7 PC. Please help because the only answers seem to be the typical ''have you unistalled the driver and reinstalled it''

So i'm a dummy that knows very little about processors (i've been using the AMD Phenom x4 II 965 for the last 4 years) and i'm looking to upgrade.

Is the i5 6600k worth the 200 bucks + whatever a new mobo costs? According to CPUboss i'd only gain .1 GHz extra before overclocking.

http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Core-i5-6600K-vs-AMD-Phenom-II-X4-965

Am i missing something or am i retarded?

I had the same problem. i ended up just partitioning my hdd and dual booting windows 10 for my gaymin needs. I think microsoft did that purposefully so that xbone controllers wouldn't work on windows 7

ghz don't matter unless the two processors have the same number of instructions per cycle (IPC). overclocking doesn't result in better performance just because more ghz are better, it matters because THAT chip running at more ghz are better.

the phenom's IPC is fucking ancient. look up benchmarks for the two chips.
>>
>>55158611
Okay, so on PassMark the Phenom gets a score of 4248 versus the 6600k's 7799, that's a huge improvement, damn.

Thanks man.
>>
>>55158658

passmark isn't that good of an indicator but look up practical benchmarks for games or software etc, the phenom was pretty good for its day but was still below the first generation i7's, and the 6600k is a pretty damn marked improvement over the first gen i7's

I get this sometimes when playing HTML5 video on Firefox 47, especially on YouTube. It goes away after a while but it's still pretty annoying. My mobo (I'm pretty sure, though it could be the PSU because my ethernet died a day before the whole thing refused to boot) bit the dust and I want a new one to use my PC again without having to buy everything new.

It's an LGA2011 / X79. It seems like they stopped making them so they're all super expensive on newegg and amazon as far as i can see.

It looks like LGA2011-3 is NOT backwards compatible.

What am I missing here, or am i forced to upgrade my CPU as well?

Can someone with multiple monitors please help me?
I'm curious if there's a way to change which screen the cursor is on with the push of an arbitrary button (such as one of my mouse side buttons).

Ex: I'm in a game and I don't want to press esc to bring up my cursor so I can go to the other screen (also blocking my view of the game). Instead, I want to press one of my mouse buttons and have my cursor switch (or cycle) through my monitors.

Whats the best tablet that will primarily be used as an e-reader (mostly for comics/graphic novels, but also just regular books). What can you do with Python?
>>
>>55159993
Step 1:
Remove keycaps again

Step 2:
Grab a straw and some isopropyl alcohol

Step 3:
Put the straw into the alcohol (just a little bit) and put your finger on the other end

Step 4:
Depress the switch, put the straw in the hole and release your finger

Step 5:
Spam the key for a bit to spread the alcohol

No alcohol? Do it with water and leave the keyboard to dry for two days at the very least.

Still doesn't work? Put some motor oil in there using the same straw method. Or any oil-based lubricant, really.

Hey /g/ i have a very unique problem. Windows 10 just freezes and i have to restart my computer to use it again.

I think the problem is my mobo in some way, like I don't have the configuration quite right (UEFI), I've already tested or replaced every other piece of hardware. Check disk comes up clean, Temps, voltages should be good.

I have the latest BIOS version and have all my drivers up to date. I have even RMA'ed my mobo and yet I still have this issue. I've searched around with others for my problem and there are no solutions.

I was able to stave of the problem by changing the amount of memory the onboard graphics but that has stopped working

It could be the processor, but I did run the intel diagnostic and it turned out fine.

Also by luck I do have a compatible processor that I found in the trash at work. No idea if it could just make my system worse though.

Another idea I had is that it could be related to the temperature. Last year i RMA'ed my board around this time because it was happening a bunch. It has only happened a lot during the summer and fine during the other months.

Pic related its temps from yesterday.

using firefox here
I need firefox to remember card numbers so i can just double click the input box and select one
im using Greasemonkey with the following code
Array.prototype.forEach.call(document.querySelectorAll('[autocomplete]'), function(elm){elm.setAttribute('autocomplete', 'on')})

which works
what i noticed is this makes it remember the expiration dates & CVV numbers, but not the main card number
Apparently firefox has a backup way of detecting card numbers, the Luhn algorithm, which is further stopping the rememberification of my numbers & I can find no information on how to override this so firefox will remember credit card numbers (so i can double click the card number box & get a list of the numbers, like other auto fill boxes like your address box)

tl;dr how to make Firefox remember credit card numbers, a plugin or script or settings fix?

It just feels a bit odd. Either I get the cheap one and probabyl get shit image quality. Or I get the more expensive chromecast, which is at a pricepoint over here that I might as well get a raspberry pi or an orange pi or something, and get something that play video files and do a lot more.

Those orange pi's on aliexpress look pretty nift for that, but I've heard there's barely any support for them software wise.

I don't fully get the question, but frame rate and resolution are different things. Both take data and resources, which is why having both 4k and 144Hz is not widely supported*.

>>
>>55161703
>frame rate and resolution are different things
I know that, but they directly affect eachother. Or, more specifically, resolution can affect framerate. That's why I'm asking if I'll get a 33% higher framerate on triple-1080p compared to 4k, since it's 33% less pixels
>>
How do I find the baud rate a microcontroller is using for a serial connection without a datasheet?
>>
>>55161547
4k is 2x 1080p. not 4.

1920x1080(2) = 3840x2160

With triple 1080p monitors in eye-finity setup it would be 5760x1080. Performance would be roughly the same as a single 4k panel.

>TL;DR just buy a 4k panel and reduce the AA in games. Higher pixel density means less Anti Aliasing required. I play 1440p with only x4 AA in 99% of titles because at my resolution, there is 0 difference between x4 and x8.

not much at all although I wouldn't overclock even a little bit on a really shitty Power supply. What do you have? For even a really power hungry GPU (Fury/390X) and a mild OC'd 6600k, you'd only need like a quality 550w. Or a decent 650w for breathing room and adding more stuff down the line.

i have a 980ti factory oc and a 6600k oc 4.0ghz running on 650w and i haven't run into any troubles. can't tell you an exact number, but you should be perfectly fine with 650 to 700w if you're running only one gpu.
>>
>>55161764
2x2(2) does NOT equal 4x4. Don't see where you learned your math.
But it seems both of us made a mistake, because:

Single 1080p: 1920 * 1080 = 2,073,600
4k: 3840 * 2160 = 8,294,400
Triple 1080p: 2073600 * 3 = 6,220,800

Triple 1080p / 4k (6220800 / 8294400) = 0.75

>>
>>55161721
I would assume no, but don't know the full details.

It sounds like a matter of data. If the amount of data is the same, then you certainly could have more frames at a lower resolution or less frames at a higher resolution. The question is if someone bothered to create and store that data to start with as you can't watch what is not there. Taking a 4k video down to 1080 won't create the missing frames and more 1080 frames don't make them 4k.

Now to complicate matters some systems have up-scaling. For example my new Blu-ray player takes 1080 and processes it into 4k with its up-scaling algorithm. Really it is just a program filling in the empty pixels with newly generated data inside the Blu-ray player which is not on the disc. This on principle annoys me as the computer is making things up. However I do have to admit it does help to smooth the images in some cases making it look better, but could also still get things wrong.

Oh. 4chan has an API that shows all the most recent posts for a board. The script probably checks the most recent posts every X seconds, and if the most recent post has the ID before the ID that you want (sometimes adjusted to 2-10 posts before the ID that you want, to compensate for fast boards), it makes your post.

Buy a used netbook from eBay, DBAN the drive, install an ENTIRELY free and open-source operating system (Windows DEFINITELY won't cut it, maybe not even Ubuntu), and use TOR directly from there. Use a public connection (not your home connection) and always use HTTPS (should be enabled by defualt on TOR). Entering your home address when you purchase something on the deepweb is also probably a bad idea, so you'll have to work around that somehow, unless you can be assured that the website isn't a honeypot and hasn't been compromised. According to some PSU calculator site they recommend a 930W+ PSU, so I assume I am pulling around 750 or 800, with 900 being the max possible, during max loads.

Either way this doesn't answer the question. Just need to know 100% for sure:

I still need a UPS rated at more watts than my system pulls, right? I heard someone say a weaker one is fine but it won't last as long, but I don't believe it.

Nevermind, I figured it out. I had to format the drive in disk management for some reason, but now it works.

Assign a drive letter to it, you fool. If you don't know how to do that, google it. How the fuck you gonna use a drive without any way to identify the directories?

Format it
Computer Management>storage>disk management>right click the gray bar and format

I guess that could pull 900 on max load
Depending on the design of the UPS you might not need 900+ watts because the odds of pulling that much load during a power failure is pretty load, but you probably should get one with 10% more load capacity than you will pull from it.
