Never had a smart phone and refused to get one for the longest time. Finally crack and I got an S4 on an awesome deal at best buy (two years ago).
Not even 48 hours in, my phone's OS gives me a warning message telling me that my phone has been hacked.

Coincidentally immediately after I looked it up, there was a known exploit with the Knox software installed into the phones.

Didn't even go to websites or anything in that time.

This was the first time I knew the government was watching me personally.

That used to happen to me alot when i hade WoL enabled and my desktop was connected directly to the internet.

I guess someone port scanned me and found WoL enabled and decided to fuck with me.

You can't find WoL by searching
You can only find it by specifically waking the device up, so you must have got a magic packet sent to broadcast at your mac address

hi guys i'm the guy with a hacker writing "happiness" and "tranquility" in my Google docs.

janitor deleted my thread and i only have 3 questions unanswered

i would really appreciate if any of you could answer them because it will really help me regain my security

thanks in advance (will thank you later too)

sorry op. this thread seems the most relevant thanks for your understanding

1.
>Yes, because you'll either download the Trojan again, or run outdated vulnerable plugins again, or reinstall old vulnerable programs/operation systems
Will using Ubuntu Gnome instead of Windows prevent me from committing such retarded acts unconsciously?

2.
Will using both Ubuntu Gnome and Windows with dual boot and using Windows for only playing League of Legends and Overwatch, and doing all other stuff (work, studying, writing the novel) on Ubuntu (thus not giving my Google credentials to the Windows part), prevent the hacker from snooping on my Google Docs document?

In other words, even if the hacker has a RAT Trojan on my Windows part, he can't snoop on or make changes to what's on the Ubuntu part, am i correct?

in other words, in such a case, the Ubuntu part is just an invisible, untouchable realm to the hacker bastard.

is it so?

3.
Is Ubuntu Gnome immune to Trojans?

Encrypt the linux installation and use a file system undetectable to windows and it should be almost impossible for any virus to get to it. That being said, google docs is in the cloud, so they don't really need to get into your linux installation.

After clean install of windows update it first

This is one of the reasons I don't use Windows. I'd never be able to convince myself that I haven't caught some sort of shit.

I know it's unlikely as long as you're not an idiot, but still the paranoia lurks. Chances on other OSes are low enough that I stay conscious of what's running on my machines but am not paranoid.

The point of moving the ssh port isn't to somehow make it safer (although statistically, it DOES make it safer), it's just to prevent the log files from being spammed by chink IPs and for peace of mind.

>just disable password authentication or something
not always something you can do, sometimes you want the ability to log in to a machine from a new box

>anybody nmapping ip addresses is going to find the right port for ssh
nmap only scans the first 1000 ports by default, 99% of skript kiddies out there only use the defaults :^)

WoL is a hardware Ethernet thing. It literally doesn't matter and would ordinarily be something you turn off at the BIOS.

Windows doing whatever the fuck it wants in S5 is a Windows thing. I'm sure Linux and all of the et ceteras have the same bullshit you can turn off.

when you format your hard drive or create a new partition you can choose the file system. If you feel really excentric use raiserfs, it is literally perfect.

Hahaha, man scaring the shit out of people using technology is nice. I had a 2g mobile data plan back when it was the new hot shit, had people log in to facebook etc. using my phone when outside, the phone I had was some lg touchscreen 'smart'phone, I had the browser set up to just store passwords without asking, no one knew I was the 'hacker' that kept changing their profile pics to dog pics, changed mine too from time to time and had them believe it was the library's PCs that were hacked, 2 weeks later the library blocked sites where you had to log in on their PCs. I stopped doing my 'hacking' too, no one ever knew it was me.

I think Windows defaults to waking up when it receives a unicast packet.

You have to manually configure the NIC to only wake up on magic packets.

pic related, you have to manually check the box.
