Best way to learn this meme?

Install it and start coding in es6, also install npm and look around for some packages that will let you make a cool project, there's a 4chan API one go install that and read the doc and make a program that reads threads or something, you gotta be interested, also install babel and transpile your es6 to es5(Regular JavaScript), Javascript isn't that hard and es6 is easier, once you get your head around asynchronous coding, you can do it anon
Drop it and learn a language that doesn't suck and come out with some new hipster library or framework very other week.

Too dumb to learn fast?
OP, don't fall for this meme. if you want to program good modern web application, PHP is better.

I want to learn it so I can make cross platform mobile apps with a lot of async things going on. I already know Python/PHP
I still cannot understand why Node.js has gotten so big so fast.

Lazy pajeets

You don't have to write JS just from the front-end and then have some kind of data-translation layer. Although that shit is almost free if you're using Java + JAXB.
Dart is better desu

Learn electron/nw.js, that's the only way to justify it in some cases - not in writing editors, though.
For web applications, almost anything is better.
Async is a meme and at best a burden.
