The quality of /g/ has been going down the drain recently. It's about time we went improved our board.

SDR stands for Software Defined Radio. It is the means of listening to radio waves using the combination of low level hardware, and software processing.

Discuss anything and everything related to SDRs.

I'm using mine to log ADS-B data from airplanes.

So the plane just materializes itself in the middle of nowhere/ocean? What's that all about?
>>
This. We need more threads like this.
>>

I started tracking when the plane was there. The software can't magically guess the previous positions.

I see one probably once every month. But needs to be more often
>>
>inb4 this devolves into listening to numbers stations

What data does the sdr hardware part exactly output? It obviously can't push a raw 1GHz wave to the computer

Dem tabs though ... lol
>>
>>55137350
Not sure about that, sorry
>>
>>55137350
It depends, its all programmable into however you want. Generally it interprets the signal into audio through filters ADCs and black magic.
>>
>>55136753
Sorry for my ignorance, but why would I want to do this?

skyking threads

A lot of uses. Listening to radio, NOAA weather stations, ATC, ADS-B...

because of generals and /v/ shit posting

>our board
oh

If you want endless generals go to reddit
>>
>>55137889
Generals are good. They provide containment. It's the stream of endless soft porn, iCloud locked phones, and muh 16 GB RAM meme posts that threaten this board
>>
>>55137929
generals are so great, just look what happened to /v/!

/g/ is about loli and need tech posting to a sys admin level honestly.

Seems like you have more an issue with /v/ cross boarding.

You want a walled garden.

Why not just psot on reddit then? Its literally made for this sort of psoting
>>
>>55137951
I can't take the abundance of stupid people and the constant drama on Reddit.

RTLSDR with a shitty Yagi and a UVB5 with Nagoya UHF whip antenna. Wishing I had the money for proper HF equipment, at least RX only.
