What's a good, free CAD for mostly 2D engineering work like

They all suck. Eagle cad is is really good, but designed for schematic capture/pcb layout. I still use it for 2d drawings because all the other cad software is so bad. Librecad is possible to use. At least it does support zoom with mouse scroll.
