A small update on the GPS trackers I bought. The one that worked from the start is still working. The other three which I thought were dead, had an angry chink spirit trapped inside, since all I had to do was remove the cover and they started working.

Yep, Redmi 3. Just updated it today to MIUI 8 and I really like it. It's a shame it's stuck on 5.1 but I guess it won't take long for an stable CM13 ROM to appear. In any case, MIUI 8 revamped the whole battery management app and now it has some greenify-like features enabled so you really don't miss doze from 6.0 and unlike most OEMs, at least they base their ROMs in the latest security patch from Google. I'm on June patch right now so it's not bad at all.

It's an acquired taste desu. They're bloated but all extra apps (chinese services mostly) can be uninstalled as they come in /data/. It's also designed to work even on ancient phones (from the 4.4 era) with just 1GB of RAM so the RAM usage scales well but maybe they're a bit overzealous with background task killing (you can manually tweak this though) due to this.
In any case, you have the option to install the Xiaomi.eu custom ROMs. They're based in the China dev ROM but tweaked to european tastes/expectations of how does Android work, fully translated and completely de-chinkified. They're a little bit lighter in the RAM side as they don't include most china-centric services.
