Cancel, download Never10, hit 'Don't upgrade to Windows 10', done. Never10 can then be deleted.
>>
It's time for you to submit OP. If it makes you feel any better all Wincucks will in time.
>>
>>55102662
You know what? Don't upgrade. Resist the change. Keep using the same OS for the remainder of your days and live with it.

I too was reluctant to upgrade to 10, but did it anyways. Now, i have to say i really like it and don't ever want to go back to 7 or 8. I thought why not try it, i can always go back and install whatever OS i like, i reinstall pretty frequently (several times a year) anyways. My Win 10 install is now half a year old, and i don't have any issues or slowdowns that would warrant a fresh install. Can't complain.

99.5% of memeing about Windows 10 here i found to simply be not true, it works very good for me. I guess my PC is also constantly up to date, i simply schedule all the updates to happen at night when i'm sleeping, it all happens by itself.

Why exactly are people so against a free upgrade to the latest and greatest OS? Don't claim the botnet or spying shit as it's on old Windows too.
>>
>>55102785
Yeah, okay sure.

Have you tried Windows 10? For more than just a few minutes in a virtual machine?

I was prepared for some serious bullshit when going to Windows 10, at the end of the day i was pretty surprised with how smooth everything went. The only issue i was having was that some peripherals didn't have windows 10 drivers yet, but i made Windows 8.1 drivers work until the manufacturer rolled out some win 10 drivers.

All of us Linux users are collectively laughing at you right now OP, just so you know.
>>
Wasn't it supposed to stop being free about now? I though the spam would stop.
>>
>>55102818
i tried it and i don't like it
>>
I restored and avoided the updates that contain 10. It's been worth it. Been meaning to do it for some time.
>>
>>55102818
Botnet and spying is not on older Windows version to an extent that it is on 10.
The fact that they are forcing the update on users alone is a good enough reason to avoid it.
>>
>>55102841
>i tried it and it was almost as good as the thing i have now

wew
>>
>>55102876
Do you own a smartphone?
Don't bitch about botnet and spying.
>inb4 I live in a cave and have no use for technology anyway
>>
The only reason I don't like it is the retard fugly start menu. Inb4 classic shell, is there a better looking alternative? Classic shell is kind of ugly too

I got rid the botnet a long time ago in a way i cant even check them anymore.
>>
>>55102885
It wasn't "almost as good", i think it's actually far better.
>>
Embrace the botnet for botnet purposes and slam in another ssd with a distro of your choice
>>
>>55102906
How many times a day do you even use the start menu?

I put my cursor in the search bar, type the first three letters of whatever program i want to launch, hit enter and there we go, program launched.

Going back to a system that doesn't have a search bar start menu just feels alien now.
>>
>>55102841
Since I pretty much skipped 8 I don't know if that's really a 10 issue or if it was fucked up before, but having two system settings (one like 7 and the new minimalistic shit) seems pretty crappy to me
>>
>>55102909
Yeah, now you're in a russian botnet and oblivious to the fact.
Thanks for the roubles.
>>
>>55102818
System settings are fubar
Driver issues
Compatibility issues
Forced updates in pro version (I'm fine with forcing updates on home users)
>>
>>55102948
Wasn't aware of that. I didn't know it was so good. Admittedly I've only looked at screenshots. Next computer I buy I'll probably install Windows 10. I honestly don't give a flying fuck if they steal all my data
>>
>>55103025
I'm a wee bit paranoid so i set up my pfsense hardware firewall to block windows telemetry, and the logfile is completely empty, so either my blocking isn't working or it's not reporting anything back.
>>
>>55102857
Free upgrade ends on July 29th
>>
>>55102818
Both hardware and software compatibility (programs, legacy stuff some places use, drivers, etc).
Forced upgrades.
Getting forced to it on old OS.
No reason to upgrade.

Exactly. That's why I stay the fuck away from Linux.
>>
>>55103025
It's like this since Vista... Only Vista and Windows 7 have much worse drive indexing than W10.
>>
>>55102948
since windows vista: hit the Windows key, type three letters, hit enter. works the exact same way.

now fuck off.

I upgraded a while ago. Then an win upgrade happened that i didnt accept. You know what happened next? It fucked deleted my profile account and deleted everything. Make songs, pics, all the tracks i was working on. All the games i had installed from steam. It was fucking gg. Had to reformat and reinstall win7. Dont do the upgrade.

JUST UNINSTALL KB3035583 THIS SHIT ISNT FUCKING HARD
>>
So why haven't you just updated? Win 10 has been out for a year, it's far overdue.
>>
>>55102785
It's only free for a limited time and that's only for existing Windows license holders. OEMs have been and will continue to pay licensing fees for each Windows 10 device they sell and enterprises pay as well. These two sources of income combined dwarf the income from direct sales to consumers. It is not "free". And the telemetry that's collected is the most boring usage data possible that helps Microsoft make a better product and nothing more. There's nothing nefarious that could possibly be pulled out of the telemetry data.
